I see we've reached the inevitable "bad WWII analogy" stage of this thread. Is it any wonder I just make snarky remarks instead of trying to seriously debate this topic with people?

On that note, have a joke:

Q: What's the difference between the Collector Base and the geth fleet?
A: One's an abomination hated by most of your squad that's incredibly fun to blow up; the other is just beyond the Omega-4 relay.

You seem to have missed my entire point.

That depends on how you look at life. Can it think? Can it be? Can it suffer?

Is that not life?

. He's it is life.  But it is so alien to what I am that I can't really comprehend it.

Despite what others may say, I feel that overall, the balance between Geth and Quarian sympathy was well established through-out the three games. We have the huge threat that they can *be* in the first; the ambiguity and rather cold methodical process of their preservation in the second; and the total injustice of the Quarian people in the third.

It's not really surprising that during the Geth Consensus mission, Legion might try to manipulate Shepard into sympathising for the Geth. They have been known to lure organics into traps, hell, they even tricked the Salarians!

You can always tell when you've struck a nerve and successfully made a good point when you immediately get attacked and insulted.

Why bomb japan to force a surrender? Maybe because...we felt that their continued attacks would pose a threat to us?

We bombed the second time because in fact japan did NOT stop attacking. Their honor code would not allow them to stop. We felt threatened. So we bombed them again.

If you are an American and don't like that, why are you still in America? Unless you're protesting the US military's doctrine, you shouldn't be here.

Why?

BECAUSE YOU CAN'T SUPPORT SELF DEFENSE AND THEN SUPPORT IT AT THE SAME TIME.

The geth attacked in self defense. If you condemn them to death for that, then you should view America in an equally lousy light.

Anything else is the very definition of double standards.

Fair number of assumptions there. And one very big problem.

The Geth stopped attacking when the Quarians left. The Quarians clearly had the capability to lift 18 million people off the planet and evacuate them into a giant fleet.

Why did they not evacuate sooner? Why wasn't that capability used to move Quarians off planet before the final evacuation? Why are there no Quarians outside the migrant fleet?

Seems to me the answer is directly related to why there were only 18 million left. Because there were no Quarian civilians. None of them evacuated, no refugees. All of them joined the war.

The geth only stopped attacking because they couldn't be sure of the consequences of extinction.

You seem very unwilling to admit that the geth may have ever done anything wrong.

Oh, they've done plenty of things wrong.  The results of the morning war were damn close to genocide.  I just find them to be the lesser of two evils.  Had it gone the other way, it wouldn't have been 'damn close' to genocide, it would've just been genocide.

Even in ME1 you get the chance to call tali out on the quarians actions. She basically sidesteps the questions and provides "but...but they were attacking us!" cookie cutter answers.

Quarians found aiding the geth were disposed of by their own people.

We used the atomic bomb on japan twice.

TWICE.

Twice because we as america apparently felt that japan was too great a threat and even after a first harsh counterattack would still continue to attack us and pose a threat. So we attacked again.

If you feel the geth deserve deth for their agressive self-defense, please move to another country that did not atomically bomb the same country twice in a row in the name of self-defense.

The Geth were fine with defending themselves, however, a line was obviously crossed when billions of Quarians just died, as for the crap-nonsense we get in ME3 I have to take that with a giant truckload-dose of salt to believe.

Last time I checked my history; A - the Japanse were not going to surrender and stop the war, pretty much had stated they would fight to death, hence they stil were a threat. B - With the defense of Japan being given a toll for million dead in an invasion I can understand how they came to the decision to use the bomb on Hiroshima. C -- There is no comparison between the Geth and the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki; one had approximately 200,000 Japanese die and the other wiped out billions...

I take you vote entirely off of mud-throwing political ads that take everything out of context?

Quote the entire point, or don't quote it at all.

Attacking half an argument makes for a lousy counter-argument.

That doesn't carry much weight.  What's to stop anybody from making the same claim about Turians, Quarians, Asari. Or in fact other humans?

I fail to see the differance.

It doesn't matter if a society has 10,000 or 10 billion. Japan is it's own country with it's own way of life. If you committed genocide on japanese you would have wiped out an entire society.

The geth crippled the quarians population because they wouldn't stop attacking. When they left, they stopped. That is a sign of self-defense, nothing more.

My geth argument is tied to my WW2 argument.

Just because you can't effectively counter my entire argument doesn't make my argument irrelevant.

. So all the children, elderly, noncombatants, they deserved to die at the hands of the geth?

I think we can assume that as the war went on, both sides began to kill indiscriminately.

The Quarians aren't made up of the same DNA and Proteins.  Dextro vs Levo, remember?  Vaguely similar, but not actually the same at all.

Really, this is just the limits of your own empathy.  I suppose you're entitled to that, but it's entirely unconvincing.
