She always says nugs are dirty, but I will try next time!

I had that happen once. She wouldn't talk about it. So I left it and went to finish the Deep Roads. When I came back I spoke to her just on the off chance - and she went into the correct dialogue. I don't know why it didn't trigger before. But we all know some of those triggers can be tricky.

I have almost consistently gotten the correct dialogue for the Nug At Warm level (Around 25-30 or so).  PC, so can't tell if it works always, or I am just getting lucky.

Do you have to kill Marjolaine? Will letting her go rule out romance, even if Leliana is in favor of letting her go? My Pc's don;t like to shed blood if they don't have to

Works either way.

It's not necessary to kill Marjolaine. Regardless of whether you kill Marjolaine or let her go, you will get a new conversation back in camp if you say you want to talk to her. This is the often mentioned chance to "harden" Leliana if you want to. She is unsure who she is and you can either tell her things that reinforces her selfless sides or more roguish sides of her personality. After this conversation you will get another one where she thanks you for helping her make up her mind. After that you should get the conversation the leads to a chance to bed her.

She doesn't mention Marjolaine. Once you get the bards/spies conversation, you're on the right path. But Leliana will at first lie about why she was in Ferelden. Next time you come back to camp she should confess that she was lying, and tell you why she was really there.

Then you travel with Leli in party until you hit that assassination attempt. Then you go get Marjolaine.

Edit: After that, whether you let her go or kill her, harden Leli or not, you can move on. Get her back up to 100 Adore, then you can sleep with her. Achievement attained.

Don't ya just love what we go through?

If it's "friendly" and not "adore" or "love", then you said something to her, early on during the game, that shifted her into the "friend" category and not "love interest."

To get her as a love interest, I've found, you need to talk to her about how someone like her (a cute/beautiful woman/girl like her) was doing in the chantry. Latter on, she'll start flirting with you when you go back to camp.

If you're trying for a female romance with her, she'll comment on your PC's hair. Be nice to her, and select the option that asks if she often likes the company of other women. That'll continue the romance.

Maker, I wish I knew what you people were doing to keep her in the friendly category. I'm only civil to her to keep peace in the party and to get the buffs to her cunning so she can open chests for me), and I'm very careful to pick what seem to me to be the most neutral FRIENDLY options.  Inevitably, I drag my butt back to camp and check with my romantic interest to see if they have something new to say, and there it is: they want to talk about me and Leliana.  Sigh.  Forget the "Slap Morrigan" mod. Her, I can deal with. I want a "Strangle Leliana" mod.

I don't think patch 1.02 fixed the bug with Leliana. It goes like this if you take the option to kiss her before getting the dialog to start her side quest you never get the side quest dialog. I have my game patched and I kissed her hoping to get her in bed and I've been stuck ever since.

i was wondering how to get her with myself and isabela. she keeps giving me the old "are you going with her? i thought you were joking. what about us? doesn't it mean anything to you?"

already started romance, obviously

For Leliana, after having broken up with her and done Marjolaine you need to choose the correct dialogue responses.

She says something like: “I know that look—you have something on your
mind don’t you?”

Respond with the following dialogue choices:

“We need to talk.”
“Are you feeling better?”
“Er, I think I see what you mean.”
“She was special to you wasn’t she?”
“I’m sorry it ended so badly.”
“Everyone changes unfortunately.”
“I can only hope to one day be as special as she was to you.”

That should do it. [Edit: Added emphasis, that is the particular line you must choose to reactivate the romance.]

From what I read you have to harden her by doing her quest and convince her to kill her mentor, then she is up for the Ménage à trois

@OP - are you playing the PC version? If you, so you can use the console to turn her romance back on (and you could've used it to lower her approval without breaking up with her, but bit late for that now).

If you don't have the console activated, you have to do this first (and I highly recommend making a backup of your save first, in case you screw something up):

1. Right-click on the shortcut to Dragon Age on your desktop (if you don't have a shortcut to it, create one)
2. Select "Properties"
3. In the "Target" field, add -enabledeveloperconsole after the destination link, outside of the quotations. (It should end up looking something like "C:/Dragon Age/bin_ship/daorigins.exe" -enabledeveloperconsole only with \\ instead of / - the stupid forums keep adding extra forward slashes when I use them for some reason.).
4. Save these settings and launch the game from the shortcut - NOT from the menu that autoruns when you put the DVD into the drive.
5. While playing the game, hit the ~ key. This opens up the command console, but you won't be able to see what you're typing. Unfortunately, it's invisible.
6. Type runscript zz_app_debug and hit "Enter"
7. If you did everything right, you should get a dialogue popping up that lets you modify the companions. Choose Leliana and just follow the options from there. Should be pretty obvious what to do.

Hope that helps.

I have precisely the opposite problem. She kept getting the wrong idea from my character Sarielle, even though Sarielle did not flirt or anything.

Are you playing a female Cousland? It's a common bug with Leliana if you're playing a female human noble, especially if you're romancing Alistair and are friendly with her. Poor bard's got so many glitches related to her romance...

And if you're playing on the PC, you can use my console instructions above to turn her romance off if you indavertedly triggered it and don't want to have to deal with the break up conversations.

I am this time around. But Sarielle first incarnation (Arcane Warrior) was mage obviously, and it happened then too. Apparently I've been flirting with my female friends all my life when talking about hair and shoes. Who knew?

It happens with mages sometimes too. Either way, poor Leli's bugged.

Sorry it didn't help. Keep trying occasionally cause sometimes it's just a trigger that doesn't go off at the right time. I've had that happen, and it's triggered later.

But yes, it's important with the romances in particular to do things in the 'right order' if you care about how things happen. And always do a quicksave before you talk to anyone in camp - then you can reload if it goes 'wrong'.

 As a woman, I've always loved that line.
