I'm just happy when people outscore me.

Yep. It means we've had an easy game.

The only time I care about it is when certain players aren't obviously contributing, like the guy hiding out in the Glacier basement yesterday.

I kicked a guy for this once. He sent me a series of angry messages. The were increasingly funny. He calledme a "claw". giggity.

The only time I feel bad about my score is when I score dead last (it happens sometimes :/ ) the only reason I do feel bad tho is because I know I can do better. In general tho at least for me i never get pissed off with those who beat me, I applaud them and then prepare for another round (that is if they stick around)

Another one of these threads? Really? Haven't we had enough debate over the value of an individual's score, N7 rank, challenge points, etc. by now. This place could do with some fresh ideas instead of the same old topics posted over and over like they're vaguely interesting the next time around.

"I dont care about score" (so why do you rocket spawn without calling it out?)

To shorten the wave and make it easier for the whole team?

Again, rocket spawn isn't about score, it considerably reduces the wave by nuking the enemies' spawn budget.

You missed the "without calling it out part" I dont care if people nuking spawns as I also do it but atleast I call it out so no missiles are wasted.

I value team play first. I don't care about how great someone scores if they don't help the team.
That said, I enjoy a bit of friendly competition among friends. It's always interesting to see who scored first and why.
And rocketing spawns isn't always for the score. It helps making some waves shorter and easier, no ?

Fun is overrated.

I'm an ****awesome**** player , so I have nothing against being outscored, cos' it means that my teammates are ****even more awesome****. And it's always a good thing to have ****awesome**** teammates.

You also missed the "without calling it out" part. It causes missile fails

Im normally 2nd or 3rd in score unless im carrying low N7s , because i prefer staying alive rather than laying on a floor for 5mins of a round, so i play a lot more defensivly then a lot of people. I wont lie and say i dont use things like the Harrier a lot, but then i dont use it for scoring, i use it because it kills things very easily. And when things are dead, they are likely to not kill me (Brute death animation aside - yes i really did die to his hand flop once )

I tend to see top scorers generally being the ones using the more powerful class/build/weapons ather than an extention of skill. Although if a Vorcha Engineer tops the table with 120k in a gold match, im somewhat impressed :)

Its normally an infiltrator tho

some N7s are a lie of numbers

I mean we been over this too

score has meaning, but too much emphasis on score has no meaning

You devalue something when it become a econemy source example ...money if I say this is worth this much and the trend takes it could be decreased in value cause sombody wants tosell theirs sooner

in basics if you care too much about score...then it's value in general means..nothing

I only look at score once in awhile but when Im about to earn cash I only look at credits and time

Instead of getting "kill" points, it should be "damage" points. Damage a Prime (by yourself) all the way to the last bar of armor, then a teammates Javelin gets the killing blow. You get 95% of the points, he gets 5%. That would fix the scoring system in place.

I've seen something similar happening where - my team mate and I will shoot a Brute together on Gold. If I shoot it during the last few seconds because I just got there, and they continue to shoot it, I'll ger anywhere from +5 to +100 points, while they get around +2400-+2600. It's sort of like you're implying, but I do see the issue with kills awarding more than they should with an abundant "KS" record going to most of the PuG's that you find. There was one kid I met playing a Fury, and all he did was wait for you to drop the shields/barrier of something and then combo it for the kill. Racked up over 90,000 points while the rest of us got below 60,000 due to it, not that it really matters. But seriously, he was just taking all the kills that he could - and for what? No clue.

Probably because that guy who didn't help with the objectives, revive you, or extract "coincidentally" had the lowest score.

I understand that getting 'full' vs. 'partial' extraction gets more points but there's no tally for objectives 'help' and revives (less than 5) is there?  I mean I try to do all but just wondering.

Score gives you a ballpark idea of how much a player contributed during a match.

If a player finishes out a gold match with under 30k points (10k of which were from gold extraction, and at least 5k of which were from partial extraction bonus), then it's fairly safe to say that that player was pretty much usless. Unless you count "cannon fodder" as being useful.

It can also give you a pretty good idea of how well the match is going.
For instance, if I'm not at the top of the score board, it usually means we're doing really well. If I AM at the top of the score board, we might be in trouble come wave 10.

Score isn't a good indicator.

No one really gives a damn if you killed tons of stuff during non objective waves.

The only thing that matters is how well you play on objective waves.

And quite often, that means not firing a single shot. If there's a device somewhere, you shouldn't be on the other side of the map killing stuff so they can respawn next to it (hear that Stardusk ?). If there's a pizza and nothing threatens the delivery boy, you shouldn't kill anything so they won't respawn between him and the LZ. If it's a hack/escort, the guy with the Javelin shouldn't shoot anything that's behind three walls because they're no threat and might respawn closer to you. And obviously, if you're not in the hack/drone circle, you're a douche.

Your argument is invalid.
