Score isn't a good indicator.

No one really gives a damn if you killed tons of stuff during non objective waves.

The only thing that matters is how well you play on objective waves.

And quite often, that means not firing a single shot. If there's a device somewhere, you shouldn't be on the other side of the map killing stuff so they can respawn next to it (hear that Stardusk ?). If there's a pizza and nothing threatens the delivery boy, you shouldn't kill anything so they won't respawn between him and the LZ. If it's a hack/escort, the guy with the Javelin shouldn't shoot anything that's behind three walls because they're no threat and might respawn closer to you. And obviously, if you're not in the hack/drone circle, you're a douche.

So on Gold/Platinum waves 7,8,9 and 11 we should just stand around doing nothing? Good to know.

EDIT: Actually, that sometimes works on wave 11, so really just waves 7,8, and 9.

Not really what I was saying. What I wanted to say was

mediocre play during non objective waves + smart play in waves 3, 6, 10 > Killing spree during non objective waves and stupid play in waves 3, 6, 10.

Ok. I must admit sometimes I call it too late or I forget to do so because I think my teammates are on the other side of the map.

Good question.
Care to elaborate why you would make threads like social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/343/index/15782013 if you don't care?

I use score as a personal measurement tool, generally speaking I have an idea what my score should be with a specific kit/enemy/map...it tells me which weapon works best with the kit in my hands, am I having a good day, bad day, is this team really good or really bad.

With friends it doesn't really matter, we just kill things and most of the time have a blast doing it.

With pugs it gives me a general idea how strong the team is, do we have a leecher etc, In gold if thongs have been tough and it's very clear to me this team isn't realy for this level or enemy, I will crank it up a notch, I will nuke a spawn to take some pressure off the team and get this job done faster so I can leave.

I'm always surprised when I top the scoreboard. I never stop and think about how to maximize my play to get the highest score, I just look to survive and get the credits at the end.

Which means you DO care about score. However, those guys did get carried. My only problem with what you did in that thread is this

1) You didnt block out their names which is totally 100% uncalled for.
2) I really dont like folks posting screenshots of scores in general. We all know you're a good player

Granted, I do care about score to an extent. I want to score about 40k in a Gold match so I dont get kicked (Ideally, I strive to make sure everyone contributes evenly so everyone is within 10k of each other). I dont want to get 'carried' if I can avoid it. And yes on Platnium I have kicked folks for having a super low score.

So yes, I do care about score to an extent. I don't have to be 1st. I do rocket spawns sometimes to sped up matches because I'm trigger happy.

I do think you care about score but thats fine. I too care about it a little. I do check the scoreboard a little inbetween waves :(

edit- fixed spelling / grammar a little

Maybe if the score system didn't suck ass, it wouldn't be a big deal.

Look at Battlefield's score system; you get points for EVERYTHING. I can play a full game, not kill a single person, and still top the scoreboard from revives, heals, suppression, capturing, and driving assists.

Now I want to analyze your post because I think you wrote a very good one. In particular, I'd like to briefly address the team aspect.

Think about 'real life', like playing basketball with your friends on a team. The competition aspect emerges because a lot of us want to make sure we contribute. Whether it be score or playing defensively or support.

Bottom line, as someone as alluded to with BF3, this game has a fairly poor scoring system. It does not reward a Volus for Healing or accurate rewards players for doing objectives. On one hand, the scoring system is a mess.

However, we still need someway to measure if someone is contributing.

You seem like a very smart dude from watching your vids so I'm sure you know all this. Just giving my 2 cents.

Score is nothing but XP, its not an indication of anything but how much XP your getting, and if your playing at level 20, your a clown for even being concerned about it. The game does a horrible job at rewarding people for "effort" rather than how well they can drop a missle/grenade/heavy hitter class. When bioware rewards tac scans, shield boost, other debuffs, and "team oriented" play, score wont mean a dam thing. The only people who should be concerned about score are people who promote.

Score competition is fun... but score whoring during objective waves is something I frown upon. I tend to take a very business like approach to the game during objective waves... and extraction somewhat (what's the point of kiting bosses to the far side of the map if someone is going to nuke them anyway... and put them back on top of us... ahem... No Sense).

Excellent post here. I used to kill non-threats during objective waves. I got a friend thats excellent at this game though that taught us when we started running platnium with him to only kill the threats during objective rounds since they respawn anyway

Honestly if I see a guy get a super-huge score I wonder if he's killing things during objective rounds. But I'm cool as long as they help with the escourt or hop into the hack circle. But if they dont, that's an X
