This is BW's first try at MP so there is much to learn.
Someone mentioned how BF3 awards team play. I will point out that this was not always the case. When BF1942 was released it was all about the kills. It was the community who voiced their opinions on team play that Dice eventually added team play points.
As a prime example, I love piloting—choppers, jets—just plane fun (pun intended). While playing the Desert Combat mod for BF1942 (who remembers that great mod??) I loved to pilot the Blackhawk chopper. Load up with teammates and fly from cap point to cap point. My gunner/s would be tearing up the opposition, racking up points for kills, yet pilot guy gets nothing for the effort. I did post this on their forum as part of an ongoing thread of how to improve the game. I provided this as a prime example that a player may be one of the lowest scores, yet has provided huge support towards victory.
They listened. And in subsequent BF games you see how they recognized and implemented points towards team play. Wel done Dice.
This is something BW needs to learn from as well. While it is nice to see points for individual performance, there is something to be said for the team support aspect. In ME3 MP for instance, I am glad to see a Volus, and they are often lowest on the scoreboard, but ran around boosting your shields the whole match, making it much easier. They should be receiving huge points for their support efforts.
BW, please look at the points system and implement more team oriented points. The point of co-op is to work together to accomplish the mission, and the many ways a player supports the team (and contrinbutes to achieving objectives) should be rewarded as a priority over individual performance. This is my opinion on the matter.
TL;DR: Team play/support needs to be awarded, and should be made a priority over individual (e-peen) performance.
