I'm just happy when people outscore me.
I remember when your friend Invaderone threw a hissy fit over it though. So I know people care. Especially when they say they dont.
I just want that cash at the end. I prefer having a maxed manifest to scoring high every game.

If you're playing as a supportive class, like a Juggernaut or volus, it won't often go particularly high if you're focusing on tanking for your teammates or running around keeping their shields up.
Also if there are two biotics or two tech players in a team, very often one gets all the points from the combo detonations while the other gets all the assists. So scores are like football stats. They often show trends but never tell the whole truth.
I think it would be brilliant if, in each game, stats like turret kills, shield boosts, damage taken and power combos contributed-to were tracked. I suspect that kind of thing, as well as points for shield boosts, revives, etc, will have to wait until another Mass Effect multiplayer game.

It's funny when people who talk about playing 'against' other players in a co-op game make posts like this. Always gives me a smile.

I usually score around 2nd-3rd rarly 4th if I'm in a good set group team of players...but I pride myself in the 5 10 and ..the dreaded 15 revive medals tiems I would aearnt the 20 if they had plat medals..

I have fun killing stuff
killing stuff gets me points
so I think you may have a false dichotomy going on there

This is the only reason you see so many Harriers/Black Widows/Piranhas/Hurricanes and nothing else. I once outscored someone with my Kishock, he started ranting and calling me hacker....seriously, giving the easiest weapons the highest damage was the dumbest thing to do.
They really should just remove score. I honestly never understood why this game needed it.

It's the nature of the game. If there were more focus on teamwork and less need for DPS from the get-go, I think people would care about score less. Also, I think that score can be used for good instead of evil. For example, if support power like shield boost and cryo blast were rewarded with points, I think there would be more incentive to use them.

I think I make a fair point. It's not ideal, sure. But it's a game and people are going to be competitive. In fact, I think that multiplayer games need to be somewhat competitive, otherwise people simply won't want to play, won't want to keep bettering themselves. Again, not ideal. But it's the nature of the beast. And I think there are ways to make the game more co-op oriented and I provided a few examples of how that could be achieved. As it stands, score is a pretty good indicator of skill in this poorly designed game where DPS means everything on higher difficulties.
