this

I remember when your friend Invaderone threw a hissy fit over it though. So I know people care. Especially when they say they dont.

I just want that cash at the end. I prefer having a maxed manifest to scoring high every game.

I imagine points make some feel acknowledged. I always kinda thought of it as a pass or fail game. Full Extraction is really the only thing I personally look for. Like I've typed before it's all about your motivation.

I'll return to Xbox later for a few runs and ..IDC what damn score I get.. I usually again NEVER look at it. now if I only had like 0 URs to get... maybe...but I just play for the fun..I enjoy a good chat, funny conversations..so on some might find me abrasive sorry..I try not to be very "abrasive" but damn well at least lets have some fun...I kinda miss gaming with Ashen/Dryad/Sam and various other players PC fun and all but between it all, I miss my roots and I need to jump back on to them again

I havn't evne gamed with cain or Invader yet...or Invader Nemisis I end up in their parties but usually they have to leave...I'm usually just "bored" and like to lsiten to stuff make a "comment joke" and move on ..and I even miss being heckled <_<, not much but still do

If I see me being top score by a wide margin on gold/platinum chances are we are in big trouble.

I think you kinda have to train yourself not to look at it.

If you're playing as a supportive class, like a Juggernaut or volus, it won't often go particularly high if you're focusing on tanking for your teammates or running around keeping their shields up.

Also if there are two biotics or two tech players in a team, very often one gets all the points from the combo detonations while the other gets all the assists. So scores are like football stats. They often show trends but never tell the whole truth.

I think it would be brilliant if, in each game, stats like turret kills, shield boosts, damage taken and power combos contributed-to were tracked. I suspect that kind of thing, as well as points for shield boosts, revives, etc, will have to wait until another Mass Effect multiplayer game.

It's funny when people who talk about playing 'against' other players in a co-op game make posts like this. Always gives me a smile.

Personally, I absolutely take pride in revive medals.

I usually score around 2nd-3rd rarly 4th if I'm in a good set group team of players...but I pride myself in the 5 10 and ..the dreaded 15 revive medals tiems I would aearnt the 20 if they had plat medals..

I have fun killing stuff
killing stuff gets me points
so I think you may have a false dichotomy going on there

I don't care about score. Sometimes i'm first, sometimes i'm last. Only thing i care about is extracting and credits. This game is a Co-op multiplayer, meaning you work as a TEAM. I think that once certain people figure that out, the game can become more enjoyable. Sure, I've had some epic scoring against others, but at least i'm humble enough to apologize at the end of the match for doing so. Except my buddy mcboozer. Any chance to get my jabs in on him is well worth it lol.

Usually I like the games when everyone has equal scores. That usually means it was a quick and smooth match. I don't mind if people outscore me. I do mind however if I have a really low score compared to the others. Then it feels like I was carried.

I look at score. It helps me to determine if my tactics and character builds are better or worse, since my skill level is fairly consistant.

This is the only reason you see so many Harriers/Black Widows/Piranhas/Hurricanes and nothing else. I once outscored someone with my Kishock, he started ranting and calling me hacker....seriously, giving the easiest weapons the highest damage was the dumbest thing to do.

People need those FOO Strategies

They really should just remove score. I honestly never understood why this game needed it.

It's the nature of the game. If there were more focus on teamwork and less need for DPS from the get-go, I think people would care about score less. Also, I think that score can be used for good instead of evil. For example, if support power like shield boost and cryo blast were rewarded with points, I think there would be more incentive to use them.

I think I make a fair point. It's not ideal, sure. But it's a game and people are going to be competitive. In fact, I think that multiplayer games need to be somewhat competitive, otherwise people simply won't want to play, won't want to keep bettering themselves. Again, not ideal. But it's the nature of the beast. And I think there are ways to make the game more co-op oriented and I provided a few examples of how that could be achieved. As it stands, score is a pretty good indicator of skill in this poorly designed game where DPS means everything on higher difficulties.
