Elder Scrolls Online is coming out soon and actually looks very promising. DA3's online hasn't been revealed yet, but Bioware still hasn't convinced me that they're serious about online play. ME3 was just a mediocre horde mode that didn't grab my attention. It was just "Hey, this is an EA game and we have to do multiplayer because the boss said so."

I think they tried to add importance to multiplayer by making it required to unlock ME3's best ending. But all it did was ****** people off who were never interested in multiplayer or didn't have their consoles connected online.

In a nutshell, no, I'm not looking forward to it. I would be pleasantly surprised if it actually turned out great and made me wan to play in the world of Dragon Age with my friends. But I don't think they'll be able to pull it off. They're having enough trouble just with the single player part of the experience.

Yeah I'd have to agree, Elders Scrolls does look better the more I look at it. As for Dragon Age... no, just no.

There are two ways Bioware can make DA3 commercially successful.
a) They try to win back the customers they alienated with DA2.
B) They add Multiplayer.
I sincerely hope it is the former.

They can do both. I was disappointed by DA2. I still want multiplayer. The division you are imposing is a false one.

Got me there.
I just find it unlikely Bioware will attempt to both go back to their roots and at the same time bring in such an innovation. Especially since that will likely only alienate more of the DAO fanbase, which for better or worse, doesn't like things that are different, what with the incessant nitpicking of DA2. It'd just seem smarter to do one or the other. I myself don't trust Bioware to really do both. They might claim they tried to make the game more like DAO, but they'll really have their eyes on the Multiplayer target group.

(Don't get me wrong. DA2 has problems. But when you look at sites with customer reviews such as Amazon, you'll find a lot of unnecessary nitpicking.)

It purely depends on what the multiplayer is like in DA3. It's not like an RTS where it can be used in esports or championship tournaments, and I doubt it'll play like Diablo where you can join a public game for levels, gold and loot...I just have no idea how it could play.

Yep.

ME3's was well-handled and thoughtful, all things considered.

If I had fast and unlimited internet connection I would look forward to MP mode.

Not really interested in DA multiplayer... at all. I play SWTOR and I get my Bioware multiplayer fix through that. Dragon Age is a single player experience in my opinion, and I'd like it to stay that way. I played ME3 multiplayer a while because I wanted max Galactic Readiness before that was fixed.. but I never WANTED to play multiplayer. I don't think I will in DA3 either.

Mass Effect certainly delivered a worthwhile MP. I'll certainly be willing to try it with Dragon Age.

It's not a deal breaker, but I doubt I'll like it, if it'll be similar to DAI. I played ME3 MEP for two weeks (plus a week with the demo). It wasn't bad, but it got boring soon enough, though I admit that with all the added classes and weapon the MP has a lot of variety in term of gameplay.

If MP is implemented, there will be stuff cut from SP.  It's all gotta fit onto two disks, and you can't shoehorn two games into an area meant for one.

If there's multiplayer, DA3 will be no longer than DA2 was, maybe shorter. Quests and storylines will be cut, or removed and repurposed for DLC.  Banter and dialogue (and dialogue options) will be less.  Not because the developers want it that way, but because you can't pack everything into one suitcase.  Stuff already gets triaged out of games in development.  Cramming a hole other game into DA3 will only add to that.

This is why I say, if MP has to be in, make it a seperate disk or a seperate instal.  Heck, make it a free Day 1 DLC.  Only people with a good Internet connection will be able to make use of MP anyway...

I'm not positive about a multiplayer for DA:I. I can't see how it will work mechanically. I will admit that I had the same thoughts about ME3's mutliplayer and was pleasantly surprised but I'm still not positive about it being included in a game where the mechanics don't seem to support it.

Kinda, I'd say I'm curious about it. But I wouldn't say I'm looking forward to it.

The devs earned my trust with the superlative ME3MP. I preordered DA2 and I was pretty disappointed, but the news that BW is including MP with DA3 rekindles a bit of hope for me. Even if I don't enjoy the SP experience of DA3, I'm sure I'll get value for the MP portion.

Honestly, I am not, but I've nothing against it if the SP campaign is not botched up.

In my experience, it is almost guaranteed it will botch up the single player story.  As a result when I hear a game like this is getting multiplayer, I instantly rethink my position of buying it.

Now that's what I'm talking about. The Singleplayer simply isn't as important as it used to be in Bioware games because there'll still be the Multiplayer to attract sales. Bioware might as well pull off another ghostboy ending.

In this case, I would actuat be fine with MP. Especially the MP DLC, that would be a perfect scenario for me.

The problem with this is that MP takes up too much disc space to be brought in throughs download. I don't believe Microsoft or Sony would allow a download that large through XBL or the PSN. I don't have exact numbers of how large ME3's size was (or how much it could be compressed for a download) but I would think it would've quite sizeable.

If if can happen, though, so that those with online connections are the ones who can elect to include it in their game, instead of being standard and eating up disc space that could crowd out SP content, then that would change my mind completely about the concept.

Harsh. :D   I am simply looking at the game from a rational, value position.  In retrospect, I would not have pre-purchased DA2.  However, with an entertaining MP I would have recouped my investment.

I turned my nose up at the idea of multiplayer for ME initially. "I'm not an online player" I scoffed. Yet somehow, all of a sudden I've sunken more hours into that than I care to admit.

So yeah, am happy to keep quiet and give DA MP a runthough.

Depends on how DA3 plays, what the MP is and whether or not it's a laggy mess like ME3's multi was.

Adding mp to a single player franchise usually ruins it. So no, i am not looking forward to it.

Im interested to see how mp is incorporated into the Dragon Age universe. I was skeptical about ME3's multiplayer, but fell in love with it after the demo, so I hope the same can be said of Dragon Age.
