It's great.

I've been playing Salarian Infiltrator with Black Widow and Geth Scanner alot lately. You don't get damage bonus of hunter mode but you have energy drain.

Lots of fun.

I do. I use it with the Salarian Engineer, the Phoenix characters, the Fury, the Slayer, the Collector and other adepts and vanilla humans. Those who use it on a Cabal are out of their minds. Her only gear is Grenade Capacity V.

Nope. Situational awareness makes it completely pointless in most cases.
It has a situational use that I don't need to be wasting my gear slot on.

Is actually a tough choice for me. Geth Scanner on the cabal makes her extreme mobility much easier to use, which makes you better able to stay alive (no teleporting into bad situations) and better able to deal damage (teleporting into advantageous situations), but severely reduces her best direct damage power. I've tried her both ways and can't make up my mind.

Have you guys tried the Geth Scanner on the Destroyer... his DM overrides it!! It's pretty awesome!

Havent used it yet, but it is a gear with an actually meaningful use, like the grenade capacity gears.

You get used to it and you don't even notice it after a while.

Walls tend to interfere with situational awareness. With the scanner, there are no more walls.

Turian Cabal is a melee kit, therefore Geth Scanner wins with Grenade Capacity.

you have never played the bowling ball of hate sliding i take it. 

6/6/6/5/3 + bat gauntlet = fun on any level of difficulty.

Not really..
but it is still more useful gear than most other gears that are not being used.
