Before I begin my post let me just say, I'm genuinly trying to collect opinions here, please do not flame troll, be overly explicit or otherwise do anything that would upset mods, I think this thread has the potential to be interesting and I ask that everyone behaves Thanks

Hey all. This thread is relevent to both Mass Effect and Dragon Age. The romance system is a popular feature in both franchises that many fans enjoy. The romance system is a very good driving force for the narrative and develops Shepard/The Warden/Hawke emotionally as characters. Sex has always acted as a sort of win conidition for the romance system, the marker that the end of the game is approaching. Many characters probably had loves before their retrospective partners and others likely did not. Which of the characters bellow do you think lost their virginites before they "got with" Shepard/The Grey Warden/Hawke?:

I would assume Kelly and Samantha had their "cherries popped" before Shepard as they would know what they are doing. that and the Rogues from DA series had their share of sexual history.

I cannot help but think this thread is going to derail badly. I have nothing to add as I honestly don't care what the sexual experience of video game characters are.

The romance itself was what I like about the ME/DA games, not the payoff of my character getting laid.

Well, it's known that Miranda has had hook-ups before meeting Shepard, so she obviously isn't a virgin.

I would say Tali is, just because she's both a quarian and still very young.

Thane isn't, he has a son.

Garrus isn't, he slept with that female turian recon scout.

Not sure about Liara. She's very young for an asari, but that doesn't say much at all about her sexuality. In regards to the other ME characters, I'm going to say no.

Isabella? Lolno, and I'm a major Isabellamancer. Of the DA2 characters, I would say Merrill is the only possible virgin (Vael too, since he's chaste). None of the DAO characters are virgins.

edit: I read the question wrong. By my yes and no responses, I'm answering "are they virgins?"

Or was that Liara?

I'd say most aren't virgins.

Alistair, possibly Sebastian(maybe not on 2nd thoughts), possibly Merrill, possibly Tali are the only ones i could see potentially working.

Sebastian probably isnt, he made it pretty clear he was a bit of a wild child and playboy at one point, before they sent him to the Chantry.

Ahh. There it is then. I don't have Sebastian's DLC, so I don't know too much about him, and I haven't played DAO recently, so Alistair's backstory dialogue mostly escapes me.

Despite my better judgement, I'll post here. I see where this thread will go though... 

I've never played either Dragon Age games, so I can't profess any knowledge about the characters in those games.

As for ME, the only characters that are virgins (of the given characters) are Tali and Liara.

It is implied that Liara is a virgin in ME1, from the dialogue about sex.

Tali was made to evoke a virginal, innocent quality as well by the writers, so I imagine she's not had any experience prior to ME1. Who knows what happened between ME1/2 and ME2/3 though...

As for every other ME character, dialogue, content, or just intuition give me an idea as to what they've done.

Miranda has records from the SB dossier that show how she arranged casual meet-ups with men.

Garrus describes a fellow Turian soldier with whom he had a moment with before a mission.

It's implied from ME: Galaxy and ME2 that Jacob and Miranda had something prior to ME2.

Thane is a father and was married, so obviously he has done the deed.

Samara is a mother, so she too has obviously done the deed.

Morinth is a known ardat-yakshi. She kills people by melding with them and having sex with them. She's stated to be addicted to the sensation so she's a black widow nympho type.

Jack mentions being abused sexually and having had casual sex in the past.

Steve was married as well. I imagine he and his husband consummated.

Kelly Chambers. Hard to really say for certain, but her demeanor and dialogue point to having had past sexual experiences during college.

Traynor is the one I'm kind of on the fence about. On the one hand, her demeanor seems like that of a naive schoolgirl. On the other, some of her dialogue pretty much states how she likes things, so I'm going to go with yes, she's had sex in the past.

Allers seems to treat it as a casual fling, and she doesn't seem disturbed by it. I'm going to go with her having had affairs in the past.

Ashley's dialogue about being in bed and her past indicate that she's been around the block.

Kaidan seems the same as Ashley.

My Shepard of course has a history of sexual experience. He's not a playboy horn-dog or anything, but he has been around the block before, and can hold his own.

To be honest, this actually makes a big difference for me. I expect it in real life (that standard hasn't changed now that my fiance and I are together.. we were both lucky to find one another in a society that no longer feels the same way), and I expect it in-game. It's pretty obvious who is/isn't a virgin in each game.

But I do just.. pretend that my LI is a virgin each time. Haha. BUT I do tend to pick the ones who are/could be. Kaidan's the only one that's a bit of a stretch, but he doesn't mention it at all. I mean.. he's 32 when you meet him. Yeah. But in DA, I only ever romanced Alistair. In ME, I'm more attracted to the females for romances. Tali mostly. (Though I'm SO annoyed that I have to play a male Shepard just to romance her. Pisses me off to no end because I really, really like Tali, and I'm tired of being forced to play male characters as a female gamer.) I like Liara as well. The upside being that I can play a female for that romance. (Traynor's really friggin' cute, but she's a bit too.. sexually aggressive for my tastes. I can't bring myself to romance her.) But just went from 1-3 with Kaidan, and I have to admit that I was not disappointed. (Except in 3 where you barely have any interaction with your LI at all- romantically at least.)

I think in part, I chose my romances based on their lacking in sexual experience. It's just the way I am. I even play my characters as if they've never found the right person for it yet. All of that factors in to the amount of interest.
