Now, don't get me wrong, really enjoyed the DLC, but I was a little perturbed by the scene with Garrus at the casino bar, and trying to get him a date. I did this with my first Shep, because my character was already dating Tali, but with this Shep, both Garrus and Tali were already sweet talking eachother, and officially together. And when Tali got drunk and was in the bathroom at the end, she even brought him up.

So... what happened Bioware? Did you forget? Because I sure didn't. D:

Garrus and Tali are not a "thing" till after TIMs base (as that is when you run into them in the forward battery).

and as the DLC can not be played after the attack.

thus, when the DLC takes place, they are not a couple

Yeah, this confused me in my first play-through of the Citadel DLC. But Arial is right, Garrus and Tali don't officially get together until *right* before Priority: Earth. So they are not officially anything yet when Citadel DLC takes place.

Even if it were after, fumbling around in the battery doesn't make them exclusive.

What does Tali say? I only know what she says if your shep romanced garrus.

Garrus is pretty oblivious to Tali's flirting (or flirting in general- see Dr. Michel). They probably didn't become an item until Tali pounced on him after Cronos.

Yup and tali was doing all the flirting LOL Garrus actually never says anything romantic specific towards tali until you catch them so it makes sense that he wouldn't think twice about hooking up with that turian.

Yeah, to an observant Shepard it should be obvious that something is "developing" between Tali and Garrus, but that doesn't mean Garrus is off the market. It might have been nice for the scene to have an alternate route for those who would like to encourage Garrus to go after Tali (making it seemingly pay off when they do get together), but there's nothing wrong with Garrus having a little fun - neither he nor Shepard KNOW that Tali and Garrus are going to be an item in the future. They just know a cute Turian walked in and that Garrus is single.

Yeah, I would have definitely liked to have an encouragement scene. It would have suited the bit really well.

Tali brings Garrus up when she is drunk even if you are dating him.

If you keep talking to her in the bathroom, she will eventually bring up a threesome with Garrus and Shepard. Garrus was mine...I wanted to drop kick her into next week. I was not amused. I know this post was old, but if someone else hadn't heard her...it's the bathroom scene...and I believe it was during a quiet party because Garrus and Zaeed were talking about booby-trapping the apartment.

The old saying :Your best friend can be your worst enemy. I liked Tali more than Garrus initially. As a Thanemancer I largely ignored Garrus and kept Tali/Samara and Thane with me, but now Thane is stuck in my ME2 save and I romanced Garrus as a new canon (I did this just in case we can import our ME3 save into ME4). Anyway, I brought this very topic up as well (successfully necroing the Tali and Garrus Romance thread) and blamed Garrus for propositioning Tali (I blamed the guy first which was not fair for me to do). Garrusmancers set me straight on Garrus (he didn't proposition Tali but they seemed to brush off Tali's drunken rambling as a fanservice joke. Okay, but I don't like opening my wallet to insults (being new to Mass Effect I've walked into romance failure after failure). Given Thane and Jacob's treatment ( I do NOT like Kaidan) I don't need a drunk, treacherous skankita going after my last romance option. And if Tali is considering, hell even thinking to herself of sleeping with Garrus after: 1) You save her from Saren's thugs 2) you help her with her pilgrimage 3) Save her and Veetor at Freedom's Progress 4) save her life again on Haestrom 5) Give her a hug after she sees her father dead 6) Save her reputation which secures her admiralty position in ME3 7) Save her life and her people from the Geth  8) Save her planet 9) She warns shep to watch out for Dr. Michel going after Garrus; then that is what that scene in citadel dlc has reduced her to. I was so fed up after a Thane, Jacob romance run through that I deleted my Garrus romance back to ME1 and redid ME2 w/o Tali being recruited:D. Now to see what happens in ME3 (hopefully it won't be too unpleasant). Sorry Tali, I liked you before that scene in citadel dlc.

To be honest I would have preferred more of the Turian on Turian romance kind of stuff.

But I do not really get the entire interspecies romance between biologically incompatible species who are literally toxic to each other. Have them be great friends and all, but them romancing seems more off putting than cute because we are speaking about entirely different species with different anatomies, different evolutionary traits and biochemistry. This is not white abolitionists realizing that blacks are people, too, this is cats and dogs.

Being best friends without aiming for some romance angle seems the most healthy to me. I thought that it was the whole Asari stick that they are biologically evolved to be interested in interspecies relations, suddenly by ME3 it's everyone.

If we limit the relationships to those who are biologically compatible and can- you know- procreate then Garrus and Tali are dead ends for eachother as well . As for Asari, not one physical shred of your dna is contributed and you have to go on the words of the Asari that it is indeed your child (or are there dna tests to affirm the kid is yours). I would have been fine with Garrus or Thane (in particular)  being human, however. After Mordin's advice I was like so I have to subject my shep to cootchie stiches or itches...great! Garrus and sheps romance has a Romeo and Juliet vibe to it though w/o the whole suicide thingy.

Honestly, I'm not comfortable with that entire sequence, to the point where I will not take the interrupt and seriously consider not even meeting up with Garrus in the first place. It has nothing to do with not wanting to see Garrus with someone else. It's all about how Garrus enters the bar and walks right past that female turian without even looking at her. He's clearly not interested in her, even if she's interested in him, but SHEPARD decides to hook him up, and, yeah, sure, it's in the name of helping out his friend, but this is the important thing for me - GARRUS NEVER ASKS FOR SHEPARD'S HELP HERE. I'm an introvert, and my friends know better than to just say 'hey, there's someone I think you'd be interested in, let me hook you two up!' From my perspective, this isn't Shepard helping out a friend, this is Shepard deciding they know what's best for Garrus better than he does, and it seriously rubs me wrong.

Yeah i have to agree that i found this Citadel sequence off. Really if they were going to go for Shep hooking Garrus up with a random Turian there should at least have been some interest expressed by Garrus beforehand. I'll probably avoid it in future especially as i quite like the notion of him and Tali hooking up.

I hated this scene. For all Shepard knows, that turian is butt-ugly, by their people's standards -- or, more importantly, by Garrus's standards. It's basically like "You're a turian, and she's a turian, you should get together!"
