 Hi everyone.
I'm probably a huge noob and missing something, but still:
I have a lvl 8 fighter / lvl 9 cleric.
Wisdom base 11.
When i press B, i only have lvl 1 spells.
Even if i buy a wisdom amulet, to raise it to 14, i still have only lvl 1 spells.
Any suggestions? :?
Thanks

With spellcasters, the highest level of spell they can cast corresponds to the last digit of their base ability score (need at least a 10 for 0-level spells).

For clerics, this is Wisdom. With 11 Wis, you can cast 0 and 1st level spells. Level up and push it to 12 Wis, and you'll get access to 2nd level spells.

So, basically, having a low primary ability score (aka "casting stat") for a caster means that not only are their spells easier to resist (save DC is 10 + spell level + casting ability modifier), but they get fewer spells to cast (limit on spell levels castable, fewer or no bonus spell slots).

Wis: Cleric, Paladin, Ranger
Int: Wizard
Cha: Sorcerer, Bard

For more spells, I would try to invest in purchasing wands and scrolls that cast the higher level cleric spells you need, as you'll still be able to use them without restriction.

Hmm, thanks a lot, that explains it.
So there's no way to artificially get access to higher lvl spells (through amulets, rings, etc)?
I'm pretty sure i used to do that in NWN2... Maybe it changed from the first game.

Ah no, it is your base ability stats only. Raising your stats with items will get you more spells though.

Since i started a noob topic, i'll just continue with the noob questions :)
Should i evolve only the cleric from now on? Or should i keep the cleric and the fighter at the same lvl because of some penalty? (i'm half elf half human)
Thanks!

Half-elves, like humans, do not count their highest level class when considering multi-class penalties.

So...you can level up one class far beyond the other without an issue (unless you add a 3rd class).

There isn't really much point to adding more cleric levels yet since you cannot even cast the spells you already have access to - unless you're playing in an Epic Environment where it may eventually matter.

More information about what/where you're playing might help in that regard.

In terms of penalties, as TAD said half elves and humans have no penalty for two classes - other races need to use certain classes (but prestige classes never give a penalty).

There could be some reason to continue with cleric. Depends on his build choices. Several cleric domain abilities rely on charisma and cleric level to figure the level of power and duration they get.
