After seeing the Citadel DLC pose this question, I thought I would also pose it to this forum: Which is better, the Normandy SR-1 OR SR-2? Also, please put a reason why you think that ship was better.
Normandy SR-1 or Normandy SR-2?

SR-2. It has bathrooms and a kitchen.
Oh and you get your own room with a fancy fish tank on the top floor.

Mass effect 2's. Normandy. I don't really like 3's. I know what they were going for with it - a ship in redesign but It doesn't look right for me.

SR-2 Alliance Edition. Superior layout with the cool submarine interior.
Oh, and the crew actually interact with each other.

Cerberus SR-2 hands down, it was my own private warship

The SR-2 is leagues better, but I picked the SR-1 during the party because I felt like it was a metaphor (I preferred the ME1 story/crew to the new direction it went from ME2 onwards).

Alliance SR2.
I like flying Alliance colors on a ship that does not have to make potty breaks every 15 minutes because someone forgot to install bathrooms in the SR1.

Alliance SR-2 was the better ship.
However I have an affinity with the SR-1 and it still my favourite ship of the two

The SR-2. Sleek and strong, even a little intimidating. The SR-1, in contrast, felt like it was made out of plastic. Like it was not an actual space ship flying across the screen, but a poorly made model held in place by thin cables like you often see in those old sci-fi and disaster movies.
Edit: Oh, and I think the Alliance version of the SR-2 is better than the Cerberus version. In hindsight, the abundance of light in the Cerberus ship feels really jarring.

I prefer the SR1. Nice quite and blue. I liked the dark blueish atmosphere. Obviously the SR2 wins hands down when it comes to upgrades and such but the SR1 is just awesome.

Alliance SR-2.
Compared to the SR-1 it's practically a luxury cruise liner...with guns! And a personal stealth yacht...aslo with guns!
I like the Cerberus SR2 because it's brighter but that's the only plus in my eyes.
The Alliance SR2 has 1.5 lounges and an armory where it should be. Not to mention the worlds coolest telephone (I know the cerberus has the phone-table but I like the alliance version more).
The SR2 is as if not more agile than the SR1, faster, and better armored. And have you seen its guns?
Thanix, disruptor torpedos, and magnetic accelerator cannons...yum.

While I agree that the retrofit is better, I disagree about the lighting; I thought the Alliance version was way too dark and it wasn't long before I was missing ME2's CIC. As if things weren't bleak enough, we have to have moody lighting inside the ship too.Rikketik wrote...

The Cerberus SR2, bar the placement of the armoury. I'm not sure what Cerberus' engineers were thinking.

Hmm, I liked the SR-1, besides the super-slow elevator, partly because it felt to me like more the right size for a stealth and recon ship, with a good, simply layout and better flow to the whole ship, other than the lack of basic amenities.
The SR-2 was bigger, but for no obvious reason, with a lot of wasted space. But at the same time it did have a good layout and bathrooms, and a good sized crew that made it feel a lot more vibrant.
I didn't like the SR-2 in ME3; well, I liked bits of it, but then there were loads of changes I didn't like. I mean, it was great to have that war-room, but I don't see why it couldn't have just been an extension to the galaxy map area, leaving the conference/comm room for closed meetings. Moving the armoury back down to the shuttle bay made sense, but the layout was a mess (especially with Vega set up his little shanty town for one), it's also a long way if you're actually disembarking via the airlock! I also didn't like that the ship didn't feel like it had as many people on board, mainly because it simply didn't thanks to the crappy ME3 squad lineup. It was also just very dark for no apparent reason as the original wasn't.

I felt the same when I first started playing ME3, but I quickly grew to like it. I actually don't consider the lack of light as bleak or moody. Instead, I find it oddly relaxing and easy on the eyes. For me, the Alliance SR-2 feels like a shelter in the storm that is ME3's story.Aris Ravenstar wrote...

@Rikketik
As someone who spent a couple of years homeless, I can conretely say that dark moody shelters make for lousy mood boosters and places of sanctuary from what was outside.
You want somewhere warm, bright and cozy. That is more the Cerberus SR2 than the Alliance.
