Normandy SR-1 or Normandy SR-2?

I like the Alliance paint job better, but the Cerberus interior was far superior...aside from the poor lighting, there weren't crates stacked haphazardly everywhere. The briefing room being where the lab used to be also made no sense. The only thing I like about the interior of the Alliance SR-2 better is the War Room, but I think it needed to be the same size as the old briefing room, not as big as it was. It messed up the flow of Deck 2, IMO. The armory being on Deck 2 also made just as much sense, no matter what Cortez says; half the time you'd be taking a shuttle, half the time out the airlock on Deck 2 if you were docked somewhere. Putting the armory in either place makes sense.

-Go to armory
-Grab gear
-Exit ship out airlock
The function is exactly the same as ME3's armory placement, only more inclined for infantry dropoffs than runs in the shuttle.

Alliance SR2, only thing i dont like is that security field thing between the galaxy map and war room
I agree. It's a stealth loading screen, which seems odd considering the CIC deck is hardly massive compared to some of ME3's other levels.

Yeah, that doesn't sound very comforting.tevix wrote...

As someone who spent a couple of years homeless, I can conretely say that dark moody shelters make for lousy mood boosters and places of sanctuary from what was outside.
You want somewhere warm, bright and cozy. That is more the Cerberus SR2 than the Alliance.
And as someone with a sleeping disorder, I can say that dark lighting is also not great for people with nocturnal habits (or
in the case of the Normandy, people in space with blackness outside their window 90% of the time). You need to get light from somewhere or it can really affect your mood.

No, you want somewhere warm, bright and cozy. Perhaps I would've felt the same as you if I had been homeless for a couple of years, but I wasn't. I don't have any experience with dark, moody shelters and thus I haven't developed a preference for places warm, bright and cozy. I do have experience with places with an abundance of light. And because I never reacted well to light--it seems to make the chaos in my head (I have ADD) even worse--I, personally, developed a preference for dark places. The darkness felt like a place I could retreat when I couldn't handle the multitude of stimuli light places threw at me anymore. Which is why I like the Alliance SR-2 so much.tevix wrote...

You compared the SR2 to a shelter.
Since you apparently have had little to need for shelters in the way you referred to it as I don't see that you can cast aside my point so carelessly.
If you were a soldier in ME3 fighting the war, the last place you would want as a shelter is some dark cold ship that just reminds you it's military. That's why the citadel in ME3 is so popular.

It makes sense functionally for a combat ship. If you're going to be going out the airlock all the time in peace time (ME2), docking at spaceports, then the armoury should be on Deck 2. But if you're constantly dropping into comat zones where you have to do airdrops with the shuttle (ME3) then yeah, put the armoury in the cargo bay so your assault force can gear up right there.o Ventus wrote...

Cerberus SR2 for not having pointlessly gloomy lighting.

Alliance SR2 layout, although it seems to leave some strange wasted space where the the Cerberus armoury was.

SR-2A has more facilities, and feels more like a warship. However, it feels "incomplete" with all the boxes, panels and wires strewn everywhere (seriously, you're in her for MONTHS, no one has time to tidy 'er up a little?). The static elevators and "kill-zone" at the bridge are also not welcome.
The SR-2 felt more complete, with the interior being sleeker and tidier. It was also a nice touch that you could see your ship improvements on the Schematic Hologram on the CIC. It would've been nice to keep that for the SR-2A. The opening-closing Elevator was also a nice touch (I don't see why we can't have the doors from ME3: Citadel in the SR-2A). The inaccessibility of Deck 5 made it a bit small though. The little interactions you could do around the ship (Trash Compactor, Bridge Shields etc) helped immersion.
Both ships would benefit from the SSV's integrated elevator though. I actually prefered it for immersion. Also, the SR-2A could do with a ground vehicle. Maybe lose the spare Kodiak and give us back our M-35? Hell, if some of the boxes were stacked away and the ceiling thinned a bit, we could probably fit the M-44 in there too. Having a choice of vehicles for missions would be spectacular.
