Never played a MP before, just lots of SP games, even if the SP had a MP option. Wasn't interested in ME3 MP, only played SP version of demo. Started only to gain galaxy readiness for SP ending.

Two things happened.

Hated the SP ending(s), even with extended cut, which changed nothing for me, disappointed panda was disappointed.

Discovered I really enjoyed this MP (not sure if that will carry over to other MPs).

It would not surprise me if ME3 (perhaps ME4) is kind of "it" for me, with respect to MP. FPS and TPS have never really interested me, I get bored. Mostly an evolved style of RPG, that has a significant combat aspect is what interests me.

Fallout, Half-life, Mass Effect, Bioshock, to a lesser extent the original F.E.A.R., that type of game, with a significant back story, plotline, unfolding riddles and mysteries, extended character development, that is what makes it fun for me. The combat is part of it, but not enough on its own.

Except of course for ME3 MP. An exception to what has otherwise been the rule for me.

I was expecting something along the lines of Dead Space 2's tacked on MP, fun for one day but with 0 staying power, just something thrown in to please the EA execs who want some form of social interaction in every game they publish.

I was pleasantly surprised by how fun it actually turned out to be, I think a major factor is that outside of the ME franchise I just don't play that many 3rd person cover shooters. the addition of powers and my inherent like of the ME universe were also pretty big factors. I was kind of sold in the demo when I could play as a Turian or Krogan.

I bought ME3 solely for the multiplayer. Still haven't finished singleplayer (because it sucks)

I hope you are not pulling my chain!
That would mean you are one of the (supposed) few who I did not leave a poll option for.
Which is actually very surprising, for me.

If you are serious could you please elaborate a little further as to why you purchased me3 solely for the multiplayer (in detail, other than "I wanted the multiplayer"?)

Well, big fan of ME1&2, enjoyed the ME3 MP demo, was really sceptical about buying ME3 due to Origin and reports about the crappy singleplayer.

Bought it anyway close to release because hey, MP! Yay!
Tried singleplayer, turns out there's no more dialogue options and it's full of ****ty retcons and stupid crap

Thank you for taking the time to get back to me about this,  I really appreciate the input.
It's not often I see many posts about the lack of interest in me3s SP. o_o
(it seems to be the polar opposite for mostly everyone out there, Your contribution to the tally is surprising, thank you again.)

I was extremely skeptical about the multiplayer when it was first announced, because like most games, I figured it would be a poorly thought out tag-on to the main game.

After playing the pre-release demo of MP, I was hooked. In fact, MP changed how I played the campaign. I went from a RPG style pause-assign actions-release, to all real time action.

Almost exactly my experience.  My exceptions: I only played the SP demo and didn't touch MP at all so when I do load up the SP I still use the pause stuff sometimes.

I really expected to suck balls at this.  And I did, for a while.  But I thought I'd hate it becuase I've never been all that great at shooters and have never been a big MP person to begin with and because of the first sentnece in quoted post.  Despite its flaws, I lurve it to pieces.

Hmm. Multiplayer needs a few things... but I just recently personally decided it needs to add in some sort of visible mic display of which mics are in use during the action part of MP (as opposed to solely showing which mic is in use during the lobby).

Ah yes, "single player mode". We have dismissed that claim. But seriously, I was cautiously, hesitantly against MP since ME1 & 2 were single player experiences that were quite fun. I thought bringing MP was just another ******-poor "me-too!" cash-in that other single-to-multiplayer games did (up to and including Dead Space 2). But I've actually grown fond of this Horde Mode. Plus the free DLCs didn't hurt either.

I came, I saw, I conquered... or maybe the other way around? Anyway, I was looking forward to the ME3MP and I was not dissapointed.
