We Need a Silver to Gold Migration, For the "Good of the Game"

And I never host because when i do, half of the players or all of them seem to quit after the first wave.
I have been playing for quite some time but not consistently.
For me it took quite a few month before i moved on to Gold from Silver simply because Lag was a big hindrance.
I remember those old weekend challenges wherein you have to play Gold matches to get the commedation packs.
i was barely a capable silver player then yet i get trusted in a gold match just for the weekend challenge.
Then Retaliation MP came in and the new collector fraction just expounded the Lag problem. the speed ofthe collectors coupled with Lag is just hard to play on at first but i think i have gotten used to it,but i have no fun playing them. I still hate playing the collectors.
the problem now with Gold is that some PUG's are sometimes just arn't cut out yet to play Gold unless 1 or 2 players there are quite good. There seem to be more bad PUG's in gold than in Silver.

OP what is your gamertag?
I play gold regularly and like bringing along players who maybe aren't so comfortable, as long as they are fairly smart and willing to try to contribute to the team. I'm on the west coast of the US though so I dunno if we would be on at similar times (I'm on late afternoon through the evening most days), but you would be welcome to join up with me if you like.
hey Morbid, thanks for the offer - gt is same as my screen name here. Unfortunately I don't think I'm usually on at the same time as you - it'd be more like morning your time, I think.

I'm sick off the number of N7 1,000+ players using level 20 characters and level II or III mods on BRONZE. I mean, come on, you could breeze through silver or even gold on those builds and earn several times the number of credits. What's the point?
Honestly, that's probably a failure of the matchmaking service. I've looked for plat games and gotten dumped into bronze games in progress before. Honestly, I think that should be a hard rule. You arn't dumped into a game in progress that doesn't match your search chriteria.
People play bronze? Even with with level 1's I've just started silver. Bronze is really boring, you spend most of the time looking for enemies.

And it's not like I don't play aggressively. Too many overly aggressive new players. Maybe they've seen too many vids of the top .1% BSN Gods or something.
And there are a LOT of bad players in PC Gold. I assume I'm going to have to carry unless I see multiple people using equipment and with good loadouts.

Basically nobody gives two flips if your kit is "viable" on Silver. You play the kit you've got, and ultimately its performance is irrelevant because if you do down or take the bottom of the scoreboard everyone else just seamlessly picks up the slack and goes on about the game.
There's no pressure, and as such more ability to have a good time. And you can hear the lone whistle of a missile when the bosses first show up in multiples and get nostalgic for when that was your first reaction to seeing more than three per game.

I don't need consumables to wreck Silver though - another good reason to play it.
I played earlier as a Geth trooper - myself and a krogan warlord were just wrecking shop, fire explosions everywhere. It DID occur to me that the other players were not getting a look-in, but I wasn't trying to hog all the kills, in many cases I was forced to kill everything around me to survive..

It would be nice to see people who is really prepared to gold/platinum

So much this. I think it's because of operation Lodestar where many people didn't have a problem carrying scrubs to extraction on platinum. Sometimes multiple time. Scrubs decided that if they can extract platinum gold would be a piece of cakeTaritu wrote...
A lot of people playing Gold on PC should be playing Bronze.
For some reason most competent gold or gold worthy players either moved up to platinum which I find boring or dropped to silver for challenges/ gold pug frustration/ whatever. I've got a new habbit of creating a silver lobby play a game and then changing the difficulty to gold. 9/10 times such a lobby would be better than a random gold on PC.

OP:
The prevalence of players roflstomping Silver is likely due to the challenges. I know I did a fair amount of Silver for some of the characters and weapons that I was less than comfortable with as well as for the bazillion promotions I had to do for N7 mastery.
Yep. I went through silver for my faction challenges, as well as others. I can handle myself alright on gold, but it's fun to drop into silver and snipe everything. Silver is also a good spot to "test" different load outs, instead of annoying players in Gold games.

You know what, I've been playing since the demo and I only played gold on FB white when you could farm it. But I think you convinced me. Time to step up indeed.
One convert! Made it all worthwhile now. If you're on xbox im sure many pf the nice folks who chimed in here will be willing to help you as well. Putting my money where my mouth was, played almost all gold tonight...and you know what, it just feels right now. It's like the game slowed down at some point, I remember gold being a lot...faster than what I experienced tonight. Lucky to have good pugs, too, not a single wipe.
Drellfiltrator definitely feels balanced towards gold, I can still wreck mook spawns but find that I have to leave recon mine up for the boss debuffs much more often. And he's still very, very survivable.
Silentstep, I'll accept your kind offer - definitely have a lot to learn still on gold.

Yeah, I get this, and as I said in another post I'm not trying to lay blame or cast aspersions (not that anyone would/should care even if I were). I guess my message was more directed to others like myself, who have stayed only in silver and might be missing out on a better experience for their skill and load out in gold while somewhat crowding out the newbie crowd in silver.

I agree with you on that. Sometimes the scariest thing about moving up in diffuculty, is actually doing so. A few games and you realize "hey, I can hang around here", and it becomes normal.

Trying to tell people they should go play another difficulty because you don't like them being there is just silly.

Find a lobby / match that looks good to you. It shouldn't matter why people play what they play. After all, it's their game. I sometimes like to do Silver or Bronze just to relax and make a little credits or to work on a build.

Somewhat missing my point, but ah, such is life in the lovely Internet wilds. I like players of all types and levels everywhere (cept the racist bastards who turn up from time to time), just felt bad for some of the newer folks clearly struggling to even get kills when they were trying out silver. It was a message mostly directed at myself and perhaps other habitual silver players like me.
But I guess that yes, it is a bit silly, but just a drop in the sea of silliness that is BSN. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

The issue for me has always been that I've found Gold to be so much less forgiving than Silver that i don't have a really good time when I play. I don't feel like I'm a good enough player to try some silly build on Gold and get away with it, though I could do that on Silver. I can also carry a Silver game if need be, while I have a lot of trouble carrying gold. I've done it before but it wasn't a pleasant experience by any means. It doesn't hurt that Silver PuGs (I only pug) are generally much nicer people than those I've found on Gold.
To be honest I wish there was a difficulty between the two, where the enemies were like those on Silver but there are just a lot more of them and the rounds go on longer and such.
Anyway, yeah, I spose its about time I moved along. if anyone here is on PC feel free to add me on Origin! I'd love the chance to run with a coordinated Gold group that knows what its doing.

Well sad as it is to say I think you're probably right OP. This is actually really good timing, because I was playing Asari Vanguard on Silver yesterday and scored more than the rest of the players put together >_>.

Try it again, you might be pleasantly surprised - I know I was. Use some of that mountain of of consumables most of us habitual silverites have, and you just might love seeing how far that takes you. But yes, finding a good group for the transition seems like the way to go, and what I'll be striving for.
(Glances at clock). Damn, 3 am already? No wonder I'm beginning to think my posts as musical numbers...

Can I refuse and have the ME4 players find this thread.tamperous wrote...
Since it will always be so, I offer you a solution
1) Destroy all Bronze Players, just use the tracking feature of the Kinect and launch laser beam through the screen.
2) Control all Silver Players, it'd be easy if one guy controlled the whole team.
3) Synthesize all possible players and games by making all games Random Challenge, Random Map, Random Team
