That's what I'm saying. I downloaded the UPDATE but haven't played yet.Telefan wrote...
From what I've read on other threads, it was the update that Bioware rolled out today that caused the problem, not the DLC. At this point I can't even sign in to the DA:O servers to play, so maybe they're doing a quick fix for the specialization problem. We can hope at least.

So is the best thing to do not put the game in my xbox until Bioware release more information about the bug the DLc cause and when they will fix it?

But you can play if you don't connect to internet... I was playing when the update was lauched and I choose not to upload in that momento and my conexion on live go out. When I did the save, I reconnect and made the update.
If you are not connected to internet the update can not be download... (Except you had already download it)

Should I delete the RTO DLC and wait to re-download the corrected version when it comes out?

Which brings a question; does this bug affect successive playthroughs? I ask because I want to know of I need if I change the way I play again, to get certain specializations at certain times.

if so that would be cool enough just like starting over as brand new kinda didn't like that when I started a new character that they where all there and available I think it should unlock on every character play through instead of just being there. My thoughts hope they fix or can relearn

What I'm wondering is if I have to relearn them every playthrough, of if they stay like they did before this bug was introduced with the latest update. For example, what I'm wondering is if I unlock Arcane Warrior under my warrior, will it be there for my mage?

I've read that even if you relearn them, once you turn off the console, they are locked again.
I can confirm this. So DON'T relearn unless you're at level 7 or 14 and are prepared to use them right then. Otherwise they're gone for good right now. Hopefully this is fixed soon. The minor bugs on this game didn't bother me, but this is almost game-breaking. I'm a wee bit frustrated now.

But I believe the way the update was presented, was that I either performed the update, or get logged out of XBOX live. So I interpreted this a mandatory update. I guess, from what everyone is posting, it is not mandatory; and I must have misread the update notice. So I have only myself to blame there. But I do hope Bioware patches this soon as it is a PITA.

I downloaded the update and got to the main menu with the downloads (got my 3 missing achievements), but never actually played the game. Once the achievements popped I saw no reason to actually load a game until the new DLC is actually released. So hopefully it didn't screw up my specializations.

You didn't. You actually had to play with the update installed in order to glitch your saves.

Erase your savegame and start over - all bugs are gone then

The download of the patch did this (I did not buy RtO).
On a positive note.
I cleared the cache as folks here have said.
Then I went into the game, earned one specialization back.
Saved, shut out of the game, turned off the system.
Then I went back on, into the game, played until I leveled, and all the specs are back.
there's something else.
During this time, I started a new character to see if going a fresh one would work. (This was before I relearned the one specialization). Found out that all dog's Warrior abilities were gone too, along with the specializations. (this on a human noble).
So...said screw that and went into my mage game and leveled up like I said.
left the game again.
Now Dog has his Warrior skills again too.
And my specializations are back. So it is possible to revert to the old status. It appears to give you all of your previously unlocked specs back, not just the one you just re-unlocked. I had all but Reaver done.
It appears life is good for now. They'll fix it and I'll carry on until then. Well, I will wait a day or two before getting the next "fix."

Go to "My Xbox", then to "System Settings", then to "Memory", hit "Y" on your hard drive to get to device options and clear the cache. It's pretty easy.

Thanks. I'll give it a go.
