I recently had to reinstall my copy of DAO due to hard drive failure and subsequent replacement. The issue I'm having now is that the game seems to completely ignore skill and talent points.
-During character creation, there is no option to choose skills, which means I can't even get past the CC screen.
-If I load an old character, her quickbar is empty, and her skills and talents in the journal are nonexistent.
I'm running Windows 8 64-bit, and the game is fully patched to version 1.05. There are screenshots of the salient issues here. Has anyone encoutered this problem before? Thanks so much in advance!

Do you have any mods loaded?
If you have DLC, ensure that you patch to 1.05 after all the DLCs are installed. Its better not to start the game until everything is installed, and start it vanilla. Then load your mods.
And make sure you have DirectX 9.0c installed (remember it's not native to win8; also directx 9, 10, and 11 can and do coexist!)
