What do you need to get fast downloads to the clients? How important is the operating system, bandwidth, memory, FTP program? Should you use separate machines for the auto-downloader and game server? How much memory is enough? Any tricks to setting buffers in the game, auto-downloader or FTP downloader? Any other items that would enhance the NWN2 experience for players as far as performance is concerned?
What makes a fast server?

Well, it's been a couple of years since I left NWN2 behind but I always used Dropbox for my file hosting and, while speeds were variable, generally speaking everyone who played in my campaign said they were getting good speeds.
I think you'd definitely want to use a different connection/computer to host your files from the server machine, if you don't go the Dropbox route.
Thankfully I moved to the Fantasy Grounds VTT for my D&D (and Rolemaster) gaming fix and have never looked back. I am DMing three weekly campaigns in a fraction of the time for development... more time playing, less time farting around generating content.
