Wild theory/Speculation incoming.:wizard: Contains some spoilers/hints from the books/lore etc.

A large number of Dalish clans have gathered for Arlathvhen in Halamshiral attracting Orlesian scrutiny. Empress Celene and her army travel to the White Palace near Hamalshiral in the Frostback Mountains to watch the developing situation and take swift action against a possible Elven rebellion. She is ambushed/betrayed at the Winter Palace by Grand Duke Gaspard de Chalons and his supporters and is forced to flee to Jadar.

The Western Highway is cut by Gaspard and she can't go anywhere-- I doubt Ferelden's Rulers and Nobility would allow the Empress of Orlais and her army into their country considering the history between the countries. And I bet Cumberland and Val Chevin have Gaspard supporters so she can't cross the sea and go to those cities. Who knows what's up with Kirkwall at this time. Starkhaven could have it but I doubt they'd be anymore hospitiable to the Royal army than Ferelden. The Planasene Forest could be an option if she were truly desperate but I think Dalish Clans journeying to Halamshiral would occupy it.

Please, pleeeaaase write fanfiction. Please! :crying:

I want to see what happens next! And I want it all in higher detail! xD

I could actually see both Alistair and Anora being willing to extend an offer of protection to Celene.  Alistair just seems inclined to be helpful toward someone, politics be damned.  Anora I could see using the opportunity for political maneuvering.  Moreso than Alistair she would likely see some advantageous angle to assisting Celene.  In Origins, both of them demonstrated a willingness to work with Orlais against the Blight.

I think that would only happen if Ferelden had an army that could clearly outstrip Celene's and I don't think they do only about ten years after the blight.

There are other ways that Anora, in particular, could scheme to work with the Empress.  Really, I don't think the monarch of Ferelden could very well afford to simply turn Celene away from their border and consider that the end of the matter, because if Celene came back into power, that would surely bite Ferelden in the ass.

Not that it's a given.  But I could see Ferelden--under Anora's leadership, at least--trying to turn Orlais' chaos to its own benefit.

If Celene tried to force her way into the country, I think Ferelden would fight considering their history with Orlais and the rumors in DA2 that the Orlesians wanted to recover their lost province. She'd be invading if she isn't welcomed. And if her army is weakened in a battle with Ferelden, she'll be easy pickings for Gaspard and his.

And I don't think that refusing Orlais would haunt Ferelden because after the civil war the Orlesians will have a weak army, a political mess, and the Dalish to worry about. Ferelden can meanwhile strengthen itself economically through Amaranthine, continue to rebuild its army and flourish under Anora's rule.

New World Order. ^_^

By letting them tear themselves apart with civil war and not lifting a finger to help Celene, yeah.

@ youth4ever

You make some really good points about not needing to lift a finger to help Celene. In the long run that seems like the best option for Ferelden.

Celene trying to enter Ferelden could become and interesting sub-story IMHO. There are so many opportunities that could be done. Such as bribery to Amaranthine for sea travel, sneaking in as a refugee, promising the King/Queen that she will not allow the possible invasion.

I dunno why exactly but Celene does not strike me as the type to run away. And I think any deal she'd make with well... anyone but especially the Fereldan nobility would be something she'd renege on in a second if it benefited her.

Or I might just be hoping for an even cooler version of Anora.

Hey. does anyone have any idea what Celene looks like?

Semi-confirmed:

Though admittedly probably (semi-confirmed) done by a Ferelden artist. She'll look even 'better' in Frosbite 'deux'
