I wonder if one of our squademates from the ME trilogy will be in ME4 and if so who do you think it would be

I think we will get a squademate that wasn't an LI in ME4 (or whatever it will be called). I think it will be javik since unless you have the extremly low ems score he is never seen dead and we have no idea how long protheans live. and I think he is in most peoples games since I am guessing the overwhelming majority of people that had ME3 bought the javik dlc and get him. does anyone agree we will get a squademate from this trilogy in the next mass effect game if it is a sequal and who do you think it will be

if any it'll be liara or james...personally i'd rather see new faces broaden the galaxy a bit instead the viewpoints of just you and squad.

If it were anyone then it would likely be Vega.

Doubtful.

Realistically, the only squadmate that could survive was Liaraor Vega  since other than in the refuse ending, neither can die across the trilogy.

Javik, remember, if you went paragon took the shard and thus committed suicide after the reapers were defeated.

All of the other squadmates can potentially die except for Vega and Liara (and being asari, she has the lifespan even if the game is set a couple centuries after the fact)

It depends entirely of when an sequel would take place. If centuries had passed, only characters with long longevity like Grunt and Liara would show up. But if it's only a few years/decades, we could have at least cameos of old squadmates.

Liara or James would be my guess.

If they mixed old squadmates in with the new, I'd only ever take the old ones.

I'm clingy like that.

Maybe Liara. Matron Liara?

But honestly it would be quite difficult to write. I'd rather they just rolled with new squadmates.

If old squadmates show up, I'd rather see them have cameos than be squadmates again.

I'd like to see a new game set after the events of ME3.

While it would be cool to see some of your old squadmates (a sort of easing in to the new story. A bridge, if you will), it should be done sparingly and only in the capacity of a cameo. Kinda like some characters from DA:O and how they appeared in DA2.

I could definitley see Liara and Garrus (e.g. Liara is the new Asari Councilor; Garrus is the head of C-Sec or the Turian Primarch). Their role should be in the background and their name mentioned were approrpirate (e.g. say the next ME game involves detective work and interfacing with C-Sec. There should be references to Executor Vakarian. If you interface with the Turian Hierarchy, then Primarch Vakarian's name should be mentioned).

I still think that if Shepard lived, that s/he should be the human Citadel Councilor...I mean COME ON! If you flippin lived and killed the Reapers then that means:
1) You are a bad ass. LOL.
2) You united a damned GALAXY! That's the peak of diplomacy and negotiating right there!

Of course, in the interest of player agency, you should be able to have a choice in the prologue of the game to let your Shep become a reclusive hermit who threatens kids if they don't get off his/her lawn. In that case...make Conrad Verner the Councilor (for LULZ...for real, though, make it Kaiden or Ashley).

I originally thought James, because he's new and effectively un broken. But then Paragon Lost came out and changed my mind. He's got his own back story now, he's too developed as a character. I think the writers would chose creative freedom over sentimentality. As for Liara, what with her being the Shadow Broker, she'd be unlikely to surface in my opinion. She'd probably get mentioned but I doubt she'd feature as a prominent character.

My money is on Legion. He could theoretically live forever. Although he "died" in reality he was just dispersed - if you grouped the exact programs that made Legion back together again you have Legion. He wouldn't even need a body. Although if you chose the destroy ending then all synthetic life is gone, there could be a way around it. Certain lines of computer code were salvaged or what have you...I could see it happening.

New faces please. As much as I love the old squaddies, I'd rather let them rest.

I don't like the idea of them bringing anyone back. They wouldn't be the same characters they were before.

Still, I have to admit that if it were a game set centuries after ME3, I'd be interested to see what became of Grunt.

Depends on timeline. If its a sequel ... any old squad mate can be in ME4.

Personally, it doesn't matter.

I prefer to be Shepard. If I can't be Shep, I don't want to see any of her friend/family/crew/NPC's. All new characters. Please.

Bringing them back would be fine... it be a matter of how important they are.

Seeing what happends to Garrus in the Palaven reconstruction would be interesting -He'd either be Primarch if Victus didn't make it off earth , a Spectre or just be the classic Turain Rebel-

however you'd run the risk of a Generation war. IE fans demaning that the older get more involvment then Cameos or bit parts.

im hoping it will be far enough ahead that its only possible for Liara and Grunt have the life cycle possible. maybe 750-1000 years after ME3 events.

edit:  would like to see Legion as well somehow.  make it so!

Even if some of the old squadmates are alive/around by the next game, why would they hang out with some random dude?

Shepard became a legendary hero who will be remembered for a very long time at the end of ME3. He'd blow the new guy out of the water going by reputation alone.

I wouldn't have anything against using save data to make personalized references to Shepard and the old squadmates, but that's about it.

If they want to start a new story, then they should start a new story.

Hopefully within the universe we know and like.

If there is no Shepard, I don't want any of the old crew back. A cameo or mention would be okay, but I couldn't bear to see Liara get romanced by someone else, or whatever other LI you had. New hero, new crew. I hope for a couple of race options like DA:O for the main character, and integrated cutscenes that show you using your powers and weapons, instead of default soldier gear.
