...or at the very least, know why you’re getting kicked.

I have had good and bad PuG experiences, this is something we
agree with my friends and everyone can relate.
So, I decided to start this post so we can share our opinion on how we
can help improve the PuG experience.

I have in mind some advice or etiquette pointers that less
experienced players and even more experienced could find useful for gold and platinum.

  •  Communication is key, always use a MIC.  You'd be surprised how many players will share they're experience or help you out if you help yourself first by asking.
  •  NEVER HOLD THE EXTRACTION AREA on wave 11.  Extraction area is a kill zone.
  •  Don't run off on your own, you put yourself and your team at risk.  Stick close to at least one teammate.
  •  Don't be cheap with consumables, that's what they are for.  Then again don't use them up on the first waves.
  •  Don't revive a fallen teammate while enemies are on top of him/her.  Either draw the away and someone else picks him/her up or kill them and then revive. There's no hurry.
  •  Always use consumables on Objetive Waves if necessary, not helping with objectives is a Kickable offense.
  • Language. Don't worry if your english is "not to good", if you can say "Banshee Behind You", we're good.
I know I'm forgetting some other good points, If you guys have some on mind or disagree with some of mine share them with us.

Note.  This is a Team Play game. A good player can handle his own and carry a game.  A great player has his teammates back.

I've gotten kicked for some pretty stupid reasons. Favorite was my Challenge ranking was suspiciously low but my N7 was high. I had just started playing ME3 after Bioware fixed my account issues (took a few months).

Don't bring a lvl 1 human vanguard into a silver lobby when your N7 rating is 48?

Probably the dumbest reason I've seen someone get kicked was these two buds kicked another guy because they wanted his spot in the lobby. I.E. Second from the top in the lobby list. Don't remember the exact spot now and too lazy to hunt down the post where I wrote it. But still, that's a ridiculous reason to kick someone.

It's inevitable to find some players that will always pre-judge you, that doesn't mean it's not worth finding others that won't.

Also, if you realize you're the only one speaking english, do not bad-mouth your team-players for nothing. At least one of them understand you. Oh, and not every non-English language is spanish, btw. :P

That's not the case on PC at all.

Bring whatever you want as long as you're teammates are ok with it.  But I would recommend equipping at least lvl 1 consumable gear.

Agreed. Change it to "Don't breathe into your mic. It makes the other players wonder whether you are playing naked."

:lol::lol: Unfortunately I know what you mean.  Many pc players have always said there is little communication, do you guys have any idea as to why?

PC players probably aren't used to insulting the mothers of other players without the help of programs like Teamspeak, etc. In my case it's because my headset makes my ears hurt after wearing it for a while ...:(

Dude seriously, why the hell does eveyrone get so butthurt over being kicked?

If your friends kick you, I can see that being offensive. But random people you've never met forcing you out of their game for unknown reasons? Definitely traumatic.

Don't ****ing join Platinum games under rank 120 without X level weapons, gear, and consumables.

You can tell someone is going to be terrible when they don't bother using mods/consumables and use underleveled deficient weapons. Especially a drell on a platinum -- drell are high skill kits and a bad weapon choice is a flag for constant death.

Damn agree with the number 2. Number 3 is good only for high difficulties if you play on bronze/silver you can skip.

If you want to joing a platinum match have a mic and talk it over with your teammates. I you are willing to agree on a strategy with the other players you will do well with whatever kit.   Yes, high lvl is preferable but not indispensable.

A couple of days ago a first time MP player joined our lobby, he had a mic so we asked what he was doing on platinum. He said he wanted to check it out.  I have to say, it was surprising.  He was willing to follow our lead, we played and we all got extracted.

Oh, and when I say first time I'm talking about he got lost on Glacier and didn't know where to get more ammo (standing next to an ammo box), we all had fun and that's what matters.

There should be more to this. No mic spamming.
Difference between nattering on mic like a ninny VS. Humble contributions of useful information/confirmations.

Yeah, it's fun you people talk but on PC we rarely do. I find very few people like me that will call out banshees/praetorians, let alone say "hello".

So it's just a PuG, and my experience tells me that I'm safer sticking to those guidelines in order to not see my consumables wasted on a hopeless team that isn't killing anything rapidly because they chose inefficient kits and weapons.

Not everyone needs to be a GI, but when you see just a vorcha and a volus with no heavy duty weapons and a turian saboteur, you know it will be painful when encroaching mob types like banshees and dragoons and Praetorians come calling, because they sure as hell will fail at killing said mobs in time so as not to be overwhelmed.

That's good advice if you're new to the game, and if your kit is not well served to fire-fight revivals.

Several kits can actually use certain exploits in powers to revive someone while enemies are camped on them. Several infiltrators can exploit a power cooldown glitch to revive a teammate, and then scatter enemies straight out of TC with a power.

Sometimes you do need to hurry. If an enemy is about to stomp your teammate, target the enemy immediately, preferably with something that can stagger him, then revive immediately (unless you have a gun/power that can kill them faster than the stomp animation.) Once the teammate's revive animation has started, turn back to the enemy (the stagger cooldown should have reset at this point) and stagger them again (or kill them outright, if you can.)

Point taken and agreed.  In case of stomp you'll have to decide to medigel or not depending on how advanced the wave is and consider that if the enemy in question can instakill you there is a big chance it will as soon as you get up.

you don't need a mic to play this game. i've played plenty of gold matches where no one used a mic and got full extraction. mic is optional.

I have to say that the lack of communication on pc makes it sound
more as work than fun, but any character can be OP if it has any ability
that works well with the other players powers.  Volus probably will
never get better score than more damage powerful kits but I have to say
that many times I've been glad to have one on the team.
