That isn't how I would have described the history exactly.BjornDaDwarf wrote...
No, it has been done multiple times. Back when RJ was first posting solos, people accused him of cheating and having solo EZ mode by having low framerate on his poor prehistoric computer.
It is true that people accused RJ of cheating. That was a bit before any of the big threads on framerate.
I would agree that in the first thread I recall on framerate, some people jokingly called it the "RedJohn Effect." I don't recall anyone trashing RedJohn any time recently though. Could be wrong.
The point is that in most solo threads I have read, people don't often say much about framerate. It is however fairly common in the xbox v console trash talking sessions. But that is mostly done in jest.
It's not as common as other accusations, and sometimes it is in jest, but my point was just that people have seriously leveled that as an accusation at others for cheating. I agree it's not the most common thing, but it's there. And I'm pretty sure that some of those accusations are what eventually led people to investigate whether or not framerate really affected difficulty. You also had people on both extremes of the argument, those claiming that it had no effect at all, and those claiming the effect was such that it made you invulnerable.
But of course all of that is also colored by the standard hyperbole of the BSN.
