I was against the implementation of MP at first. But now it has saved the MEU for me. Seriously.
I thought the theme of Mass Effect was "overcoming impossible odds by uniting diverse allies." The ending of the SP game instead delivered "diversity inevitably leads to genocide." I was crushed. Until I realized that spirit of unity is alive in MP. Where else can you see the War Assets in action? Where else can old enemies save each others' lives? Where else can we get the feeling of "that was a tough fight, but hell yeah, we made it -- together"?
To top it off, the MP devs have been very open and interactive. They implement requested changes or politely tell us why something won't be implemented. Having Bryan and the team make a FemShep BotB banner ON THEIR TIME OFF meant so much to me I nearly cried.
Finally, though we're making an exception now, the MP game/forum gave me a safe place where I could escape from the endless wrangling and name-calling over the endings of the SP game. I don't care what color you chose or whether you're a pro- or anti- ender. PTFO and I'll add you to my friends list. The people on this forum are mostly helpful, fun and insightful with occasional amusing detours into twisted, trollish and ridiculous. Thanks for helping me become a better player. Thanks for helping me forget about the ending of the ME trilogy. Thanks for putting up with my "what does *this* button do, again?" <turns off Hawk missile launcher>
I was wrong to oppose ME3 mutiplayer. This is where the true spirit of Mass Effect lives on.
