This explains a certain amount but wouldn't Cerburus destroy your teammates- none of which are on shepards level- only garrus and javik run him close for soldier ability.

Well, James is a N7 quality soldier, Liara kicked the ass of Asari Commandoes herself, and EDI is like the Terminator if we are to go by the lore.

That, and the fact that they got Sheperd close by is probably why they can handle themselves.

Although, personally, I wouldn't take gameplay as a combat sim for the Mass Effect 3 universe.

If this had been a combat sim, the moment an Atlas showed up, 70% of the cover on the map would be rendered reduntant.

Lore wise? Very good they allow Cerberus soldiers to outclass any other army.

Gameplay wise, they suck. But that's because the game is too easy.

I attribute it to Halo Syndrome instead of Stormtrooper Syndrome. In the lore of Halo Elites are supposed to be the best of the best and are a close match to Spartans. However in game, they become cannon fodder much like in ME3.

So the Cerberus troops are indeed good, but in comparison to Shepard...well you know...much less skilled.

. Depends on the elite really.  In Halo Reach they could range from pretty thought to cannon fodder.

Hm...

Look at Paul Grayson, now back to me.
I'm fitted with implants, now look over at that Alliance soldier, I just stabbed him with my Kabar.
Now look back to me. I'm behind your turian strike team breaking their arms and necks.
Now look back to Grayson, he just roflstomped Omega's worst.
I'm beating up on Anderson. I'm also killing Thane. I just dispatched Shepard's squad.
I'm Kai Leng with phantom implants.

So you're a male ballerina who pees in vases and has a debilitating sugar addiction?

Part of the problem is an issue of perception. Fighting Shepard and his squad is not what these guys were trained and equipped for in the first place - they're supposed to whittle down entrenched enemies with superior force of arms and suppressive fire. Shepard has better armor and weapons than the typical frontline Alliance grunt, and his allies are all specialized in one form or another of fairly exotic combat. (While the military does use biotics, it uses them relatively infrequently, for example, because there just plain aren't that many.)

And for the most part, these guys are sent in either for point defense or search and destroy. As far as the Reapers are concerned, all they have to worry about is a bunch of schmoes in Aldrin Labs armor, toting General Issue Ariake pistols, most of whom have never been in a real firefight. And against those guys they're pretty effective.

Deception is pretty much being struck non canon with how the rewrite phase is going. so he is technically correct.

Yep. Considering all the cool toys Leng has, I'd probably go all arrogant and stuff, too.

Lorewise they're pretty potent. The STG base on Sur'Kesh wasn't exactly putting up the best fight, and they're the Salarians' best troops.

As far as gameplay goes however, I think they're probably the easiest faction to face in single player.

Actually, i think the only Reaper implants in Cerberus units is the Husk tech (recovered from the Mnemosine wreck, mostly) to make them fully controllable.

Everything else (except maybe the Phantoms' robotic arm cannon) is stuff any other military has. Their armor is probably tougher, but the weapons aren't particularly advanced (they use mattocks, for crying out loud O_O).

They are supposedly superior because of their utter obedience and coordination.  But in game that merely translates into 'coming at you while shooting'.

No surprise that they turn into Imperial Stormtroopers when faced with the hero.
