If you take all of the games where the protagonist is female
and take all of the games wehre the protagonist could be either male or female
there are still, many, many, many more games where the protagonist can only be male.


That is why I play as female characters.

Female on account of wanting to play a female Qunari so badly that it's ridiculous. We've seen tons of male Qunari, but no females (outside of artwork anyway). Best way to finally see one is to make my own... Of course the previews in the future will probably spoil that anyway... Ah well, still want to play as a female Qunari even if just because it's the one combination of race and sex that is the most new. Besides, you have to love being an ex-Qunari female when females aren't supposed to fight. Oh! And if I choose mage, that's pretty much the unholy trinity of the Qun (female soldier, unbound mage, left the Qun as a Tal-Vashoth).

Seeing the Female Protagonist getting the big majority of the vote, it makes me think of the official statistics that Bioware released regarding ME3. Remember how popular Femshep was, and then in the official statistics I think like only 11% of the ppl who played that game created a female protagonist.

I can't help but wonder if perhaps ME's statistics fell that way as some viewed it more of a shooter, which might have driven more people to attempt to play it as male (the type of gamers who really don't like playing women because sammiches), but since DA is more swords and magic (and more obviously RPG) more people play females so as to balance it out?

Idk, leaning towards smexy male Qunari, and don't want my female DA protagonists to outnumber the males (for a certain canon; female warden but male hawke, etc.) anyway. but I wanna see what the LI's are first.
