Well I've been slowly reactivating myself on this board over the past week, and - after watching many of xcal's videos - I was surprised at the lack of hurricane love. There's much talk of the hornet and punisher's monster DPS, but it's hard to find even a mention of the hurricane. I personally use it on my infiltrator, along side the Black Widow, and it is an absolute BEAST.

It tears through armored bosses up close, especially with AP ammo and the high calibre barrel. Infact, it is the only SMG to fire two projectiles simultaneously for every pull of the trigger, giving it unsurpassed close quaters prowess and a unique effect with the heat sync upgrade (every time the chance to save ammo procs, it saves two shots instead of one).

Sure there are better choices for ranged engagements, and it's hard to surpass the hornet with inferno ammo, but for a close quaters back up weapon, the hurricane deserves some credit. B)

Hurricane was always a popular contender for King of the SMGs before the Firefight pack introduced the Punisher, and it's still a great weapon. It does require the Recoil mod from the Leviathan DLC to take advantage of the full-auto fire, though. Without it, you're more or less reduced to short bursts due to muzzle climb.

I tend to use it as such close range muzzle climb just moves closer to my targets face. Its my standard issue close range SMG

The Hurricane doesn't fire two projectiles per shot, it consumes two AMMO per shot. Big difference between the two. Anyway, up until the last patch the Punisher was totally superior to the Hurricane in SP. Now that the Hurricane's received the MP buffs they're relatively equal (though the Punisher does have a bigger magazine).

Also, keep in mind that the Hurricane is a pre-order only weapon in SP which means fewer people have it..

I find that the Hurricane is great on squadmates like Liara or EDI, since they have infinite spare clips to bypass the ammo consumption issue. Throw a Power Magnifier mod from the Citadel DLC on it and a High Caliber Barrel or Magazine Upgrade and it's good times.

According to the wiki, the Heat Sink mod is especially useful on this gun: "The Heat Sink is especially effective due to the way the weapon works: every time the weapon fires, it takes two ammo instead of one. This makes the Heat Sink actually regenerate two ammo every time its effect triggers. "

Can't hit ****. Plus the Blood Pack Punisher is amazing. Hurricane is hands down the best SMG in multiplayer though.

Exactly.

Punisher had its damage nearly cut in half when transferred to MP.

Also, everyone with access to Gibbed can have the Hurricane in SP. ;)
