 Don't start calling me a hater just yet.  I love this game and as a matter of fact, I've called this my favourite multiplayer game of all time.  I no longer feel this way but this game is great nonetheless.  I consider myself to have sunk A LOT of time into this game.  My play time in this game is nearly tripple that of any other game I've ever played.  Call of duty Mordern Warfare 2 was a former leader with 48 hours.  My playtime on ME3 MP is something like 130 hours.  That is a hell of a lot of time spent playing this game.  Now when I look at other people's manifests and read posts on this forum its not uncommon to find people that have 500+ hours of game play.  I've even seen people with 1000-1500 hours spent playing this game.  Something isn't right about that.  To me it seems extremely excessive, obsessive even.  So it seems to me that Bioware through what ever means has created a small following of players that spend to much time playing this game in my opinion.  I would think that this is bad for business and for the Mass Effect community.  What do you guys think of this?  

Please don't close this thread.  I'm really trying to get people's opinions on this.
The purpose of this topic is not to elicit a reaction.  I'm simply trying to have a conversation with this game's community.

How is it a waste of time if someone enjoys what they are doing?

I have played for close to 900hrs and don't regret a minute of it. I still go to work, spend time with my wife, and live my life.

No its not bothering me.  As long as people aren't hurting others I'm fine and that is definitely not the case here.  I just find it alarming.

Unfortunately I have ME1 and 2 but I haven't played them yet.

I have 3 level 48 character's in Skyrim and I haven't beaten the campaign

I can see where you're coming from, but you have to remember that videogames are wasted time, like television and any other form of entertainment. If people choose to play one game exclusively, then that's fine. Let them have their 1,500 hours. They need to manage school, work, family, and a social life. If they succeed with the time spent in-game, then it's not a problem.

If their works do begin to slip, then that's the player's issue to fix, not Bioware. I don't need my entertainment babysitting me. >:

The way the multiplayer is set up pushes away people that don't want to spend a lot of time trying to unlock things.

I've got 500 plus hours, but since I've pretty much played from launch that equals out to a few hours a day, skipping quite a few days. It's like a small daily fix, usually right before bed, doesn't actually impact my schedule that much. Also have a busy work life & need to spend time with the wife, but in moderation it's been fine.

Also remember time has different value to people in different stages of life - youth=time rich, money poor, older=money rich, time poor. Some can afford to spend more time on this. And how can you measure or quantify the pursuit of happiness, in any case?

500+ hours and still don't even have a maxed manifest to show for it (not even close, really). Yeah, the time demands of this game are kinda excessive, especially when it comes to URs. But still it can be quite fun and you can play a match or two when you have half an hour to kill.

Its not that people are just being fans.  Its the amount of time that is spent playing this game.
