I can relate, Spyro. My typical gaming USED to be: get new game, get PS3 platinum trophy, move on (i.e. trophy whoring). But my PS3 score has been stuck of late 'cause ME3 MP is really fun! And -- interactive (with people) and challenging! So it's not ONLY that I have obsessive compulsive tendencies -- it's also that I haven't been playing new games. May change soon once Bioshock Infinite comes out.Spyrothedragon9972 wrote... People spending an extraordinary amount of time playing this game?

• only other multiplayer i know that lasted this long and strong
•personally, if you compare the call of duty junkies to me3 junkies you won't see much of a difference EXCEPT, the people on this game are taught to work as a team (tho few do) the idea behind it builds teamwork between random jerk offs. That and there's a lot less rage in this game when someone does better then you... more maps, character variety, challenges, enemy variety, and objectives while in multiplayer to prevent camping..
•As others have said if you are a fan and you find it fun then why not, and as you have said, fans will go to extremes for what they believe in. Just look at church goers!? They spend every Wednesday and sunday at church for about 3-4 hours for their entire life, that easily equals 300+ hours in a year. Roughly saying, if you play 3-4 hours each day for a year you will at least have 1000+ hours, which is about how long the game has been out btw. In my opinion 3-4 hours a day isn't anything, you can still spend a lot of time with family and outside (dun dun dunnn) with the rest of your day

I remember that Banner - it was very painstaking and WILL NEVER NOT BE MY DISPLAY BANNER, because of the absolute grind it is.
Anyway @OP,
I have 855+ hours right now, becuase I am a fan of the ME series, and I love the MP in ME3.
Why would it be alarming for someone to love a BioWare game?
Just because, I like to spend my free time doing what I enjoy. Which currently just so happens to be, playing ME3. I should feel sorry for myself? It's not the only thing I enjoy, I do other things. But I have enough free time to put 855 Hrs(Which is only 35.6 days, after the game has been out for over a year.) into this game. And since I enjoy it, I will.

As much as I like this game I can't help but think that there are better ways to spend ones time.

My wife spends 5 hours every evening watching TV. I spend the same 5 hours playing games (Civ V or ME3, since my heavily modded Skyrim broke with the last patch). So each of us probably wastes 35 hours a week in a useless activity.
In between that wasted time we manage to work, keep the house clean, feed the dogs, and train/run marathons.
So 130 hours in ME3 is maybe a month in a game that was released a year ago. Hardly seems excessive, especially since I'll finally finish my very first run through of single player tonight.

I was hurt and had nothing else to do it sit in my recliner and play video games. And since this game takes one of the best features of the ME universe, namely the action, and centers game pay around it I was naturally hooked. Hope this helps.

Don't start calling me a hater just yet. I love this game and as a matter of fact, I've called this my favourite multiplayer game of all time. I no longer feel this way but this game is great nonetheless. I consider myself to have sunk A LOT of time into this game. My play time in this game is nearly tripple that of any other game I've ever played. Call of duty Mordern Warfare 2 was a former leader with 48 hours. My playtime on ME3 MP is something like 130 hours. That is a hell of a lot of time spent playing this game. Now when I look at other people's manifests and read posts on this forum its not uncommon to find people that have 500+ hours of game play. I've even seen people with 1000-1500 hours spent playing this game. Something isn't right about that. To me it seems extremely excessive, obsessive even. So it seems to me that Bioware through what ever means has created a small following of players that spend to much time playing this game in my opinion. I would think that this is bad for business and for the Mass Effect community. What do you guys think of this?
Please don't close this thread. I'm really trying to get people's opinions on this.
The purpose of this topic is not to elicit a reaction. I'm simply trying to have a conversation with this game's community.
It's always important to account for your time in anything you do, your concern is valid. I myself have played over 1,200 hrs in the course of a year, in my case I don't play many different games so when I have some spare time I get in a couple of matches. I really enjoy the ME3 MP, other MP's have to many people that take the game too serious and make it not worth the hassle.
I guess in the end it depends on how long it took you to accumulate all those hours.

You're unbelievable ignorant if you think 130 hours is a lot of time sunk into a game.
That might be one play through of Skyrim, might.
I've also spend 840+ h playing me3 MP
I don't regret that amount of time, though it's not good either that my studies are suffering because of it and I haven't gone out getting laid for over two month <.<
Scary that playing a game is so much addicting

It all adds up playing a little each week for a couple of hours each week.

I think I put more time than that into ME3's SP campaign.
My current MP time is 547 hours, and honestly, I thought it would be more. But you also have to remember that many of the people here with 1000+ game time have been playing for a year now, most of them with large friends lists. It's a hugely addictive game and I honestly don't see anything wrong with others playing it alot.

Bad for business..???!! did I read that right..? Oh well, I don't have time for this... time to play my 2000th game!!.. How does it even matter..?? It shows that bioware has done good business and made a good MP that people are still playing 1 year later..
I had stated eariler that I believe the way the game is set up is bad for business because is pushes a majority of people away from the game. Sure they may still have players playing after a full year but to me that is no big feat for a game as large as Mass Effect.
