Is the patch just to fix achievements?

 This is all terribly confusing.

1. On the 13 of January there was an announcement of a patch for the Xbox 360 that ONLY fixed the achievement bug. I was under the impression that this was a different patch to the one being bundled with RtO.

2. Is this the same patch as the one being linked with the RtO DLC? If so, then W T F have they been doing for the last three ****ing months?

Also, If this is only the achievement patch, another BROKEN piece of **** by the sounds of it,  then when are they going to release a patch that actually addresses major issues in game play like the DEX bug?

A big thank you to anyone who can clear this up. I've tried ready the moderators explanation but he is not clear on what is going on, except saying another patch to FIX THE GAME will be released at a future date, which could mean anytime between now and just before DA:O 2 is released.

Pretty much the patch released today was suppose to fix the achievements but it didn't even do that. I was pretty much locked out specializations that have been unlocked even if you re-unlock them they remain locked. The only way to even get your achievements fixed is to delete your gamertag from your xbox and then recover it. As far as RTO DLC and the patch that was suppose to be released with it we might get the patch tomorrow, but my understanding is that everything has been put on hold and it is up in th air on when that will be released so if you downloaded the title update you game is now broken until they fix the issue or can deleted the game, all the dlcs and everything associated with it and start from scratch. Mine is now a paper weight and will be going back to ME1 until ME2 comes out if I even buy it, hoping FFXIII comes out in March as promised or I will be one unhappy gamer.

Thanks for the explanation. So if I am reading this correctly there are two patches:

1. One patch is independent of RtO and only fixes achievements, it is currently broken and locks up specializations.

2. There is another patch that will be part, but separate from, the DLC RtO, that I assume will be fixing some of the major game issues like the DEX not working.

Again, a big thanks to anyone who can clarify this as it seems that Bioware representatives are too incompetent to post in this sub-forum.

That pretty much what I understand is that there was suppose to be two separate patches the little one that broken the game and a bigger one the is suppose to bring everything up to the same as the PC version, but like I said I'm only guessing on the second patch since RTO wasn't suppose to be released until tomorrow, someone at MS put the wrong yr on the release of RTO and it released it a day early now its up in the air because of the broken patch today,

You sure? I only know that indiegames arent checked by MS itself before they appear on their marketplace. And those games are software too with possible malicious codes inside. Its all overviewed and tested by the community itself. I dont know how things working when it comes to Arcade / retail games or patches.

MS marketplace checks to make sure that updates and dlc are not to big files wise and how much to charge for them, as far as testing the product thats up to the producer of the game to do.

Yesterday's patch was solely to fix the achievement issue. However, due to the way Xbox achievements tie into specializations, they are relocked. Chris Priestly said that they SHOULD fix themselves once the servers all sync or some such thing.
The patch WORKS once you recover your gamertag, it also "unlocks" the Secret RtO achievement (so you go from 54 to 55). I was then (only after doing that) able to download and play and complete RtO.
RtO was NOT supposed to be launched yesterday, but MICROSOFT messed up the go live date. Or so I am to understand.
RtO was supposed to be launched together with the REAL game bug fixing patch, contents of which are unknown at this point.

Great, so this patch has screwed up the game now, that's just grand. Congrats Bioware and M$ for really ****ing up the game now.

Has anyone else noticed that Post Patch, there are no longer Main Hand Weapons? They are now listed as One handed Weapons.

Nevermind, I misread one of my talents.
