I am a decent U/U/G player that is trying to move up to Platinum. Beings I am weakest against Collectors I tried my hand at solo'ing against them for the first time yesterday to try to improve. Bear in mind that I have solo'd with this kit against all other factions on Silver or better except for Collectors. Beings I have the most trouble with Lieutenant level Collector enemies the most I tried Silver first.

Set up: Asari Adept (vanilla) Level 9 (No stasis build)
           -Hurrucane VII
               *power amp V mod
               *stabilization V
           -AP Rounds II
           -Stabilization II
           -SMG Rail amp III

I have solo'd silver without trouble with low level characters before, but this match was terrible.

What a beat down. I rarely have to use equipment on a Solo's minus one or two Op's packs during an escort or something. This match was a rude awakening. I chose an easy board, Dagger on Benning, which still didn't seem to help. I may have to spec into stasis to lock down a few Captains beings their flanking tactics are so agressive.  I tried my hardest to control the spawns, Ugh, embarrasing.

I'm going to try it again this evening.

BTW, I know it may sound odd, but I am a firm believer in utilizing handicaps. I chose a power class intentionally. The hurricane forced me to fire from cover at mid range. The power class forces me to stay mobile so as not to become "swarmed" by seekers. The low level meant low shields. I did this to simulate the difficulty of Platinum without having to waste really good equipment while only focusing on my weakest points. Once I have better equipment, more health/shields, and more power damage then I will be way more effective with each. Does that kind of make sense?

I know this is a little strange, and other people have accomplished more difficult feats, this is my attempt at improving. I know the least about the movement patterns of the Collectors. Does anyone have any tips on Collector Captian movement patterns? I notice that they behave very similar to Marauders and Collector Troopers behave very similar to Cerberus Troops.

I can't get over how oppurtunistic they seem! Perfect aim at any range as well. This is yet again why I need to get past this road block. Any and all help is really appreciated.

TL;DR Got butt kicked, requesting pointers on Solo'ing Collectors.

Try using the Destroyer. He laughs at seeker swarms. Plus his Hawk Missle launcher pretty much makes him abomination proof.

I will give that a try. His movement speed concerns me a little, on the other hand, he is a solid kit. The real problem I am having is it seems that the Collectors spawn slightly different then other factions or perhaps it is just less forgiving. One rouge Captain will saw through my shields and into my health way before I even realize he is there.

It is certainly possible to solo Silver with a power class.  I accidentally did a solo with the Novaguard with a Tempest and level I consumables.  (I use the Novaguard only on Silver, started a game in which no one else joined.)

Wow, that must have been a fun match as a nova guard! Preatorians and Scion's aren't too bad to take down with charge and Nova once you figure out their movement patterns and insta-kill frames. How did you deal with all of the small arms fire? Utilizing the immunity frames from charge?

I sometimes feel collectors/silver are more difficult than reapers/gold, but that's probably me. I don't do random anymore, too much rage ^_^

If you want to cheat like the enemy does get a weapon like the talon or wraith and incendiary rounds, use the warp bug. I would put at least a few points in stasis also for Captains, they're like a mobile turret. You're picking one of the most difficult setups though, a power based character with projectile powers. Things dodge, protection bubbles, Praetorian's BS damage blocking. That's going to be difficult.

I would actually agree with that on a power based class because of the swarms.

Some suggestions - ignore the Scions and Praetorians until you have cleared the rest of the wave. They are so slow that you can easily out-run them. Collector Captains are your biggest threat - they shoot fast and accurately. Shoot any Abominations you see - once they grab you, you will be vulnerable for quite a long period of time. Pray you don't get the disable 4 objectives - these are really difficult when you keep getting swarmed by Abominations.

This.

Unless I'm doing U/U/G with my Juggernaut.
Then it's the Collectors who feel the rage.

Also keep kiting through choke points, those Scions and Praetorians eventually will jam up and get stuck.

Actually, I did not charge the Praetorians and Scions.  I was patiently waiting for people to join and wanted to avoid getting sync-killed.  I used the Tempest on the boss units - hence the 40 min game.  The small arms weren't really a problem.  I had either disruptor or incendiary ammo eqiupped so it was shoot to prime and then biotic charge for explosion and replenish shields, followed by Nova for the immunity frames.

I know I utilize a lot of soft cover but the Captain's rifle seems to laugh at the edge of cover unlike Mauraders' Phaestons and Geth's GPR. Praetorian eyebeams and seeker missles will hit while in soft cover, do the Captains recieve some sort of inherent AP? Doesn't make sense. Even when I drop into hard cover, seems like something spawns behind almost instantly when nothing was there to begin with...

Makes sense, I use a similar strategy with my Krog-guard. I find it strange how most kits simply won't translate from one difficulty to another. My Asari adept is one of my strongest adept kits on Gold, yet gets destroyed by a Silver Collector solo. Image IPB

any mobile, power based kit (that can detonate their own splosions) should be able to rock collectors. mobility is absolutely crucial.

Drell adept is great, so is the fury, so is the Asari Valk (with adrenaline).

As for weaponry... SRs, ARs, and SMGs will really leave you exposed against scions and praetorians. I know you wanted to use the hurricane for forced tactics, so it's ur call or course. talon or wraith are much more effective at stagger/flipping praetorians and dancing circles around scions.

Hard cover is futile. This is what defines the collectors.

Indeed. An abomination grabbed me on wave 4 hence I was gunned down by a Captain almost instantly.Image IPB They are easily the second most dangerous because of this.

It without a doubt would have been a wipe if it wasn't for NuclearTech dropping in on wave six. Like I said, I recieved a royal curb stomping.

I'm going to try again tonite, same character, different loadout and strategy. I'm getting a lot of great feed back. I will post results later. Thank for all of the feedback.

Nuke, I'm going to try to utilize some of Dagger's choke points more especially the back ladder. Hopefully I wont need to be bailed out again. Image IPB

On the rare occasions I do run the AA, I run her with a Reegar as a backup weapon. Ext. Clip and AP, incendiary rounds + A pistol for solid headshotting. Consider Arc Pistol, Paladin or Carnifex.

Warp + Reeger for bosses, stasis + headshot for everything else.

I suggest the following build for destroyer vs. collectors(if you want hawk)

Max out devastator, Max out missile launcher, lv4 nades, lv4 training, lv6 fitness.

No stasis asari adept makes me a sad panda....
The human sentinel is better at warp/throw than the AA and a bit tougher as well if thats what you want.

Collector capt + stasis bubble+talon to face= dead captain.
AA wouldnt be my first choice against the collectors but an AA without bubble is doing it hard.

I am going to put at least a couple points into stasis this go, and I'm going to play much more aggressive, even more that usual.
