Why do Juggs insist on meleeing everything?

It really depends on the faction, but most of the time it's really only necessary for groups of tough enemies or saving a teammate from being downed/executed.

What? Regular melee or Batarian punch on a Jugg?

Anyway. Regular melee is great I have nothing against it. Melee away when you desperately need shields, but when you don't - shoot and help teammates kill rather than chasing every Nemesis.

Seriously.

What.

I skip Geth Turret now. Weapon damage is required.

On this I agree. The turret has the survivability of a fitnessless Volus carrying the Spitfire.

Because the way I spec my Juggernaught I have negative amounts of weapon damage. It's something like -15% weapon damage. So I spec pure tank/melee. It's easier to just melee stuff and perhaps have one of my teammates shoot it.

If you carry Executioner pistol, you can suck the juice out of the enemy and finish them quickly with Executioner once their health is exposed.

The reason of relying on heavy melee is because it is still very powerful and increases the survivability of GJ dramatically.

The problem often lies with those who DON`T use heavy melee enough rather than those who do.

This is how I do it and I really don't care how others view it when I play the Juggy. I hit with my weapon of choice until out of ammo. I hit with melee and reload. I hit with melee (temporarily) until I can hit again with my weapon. I will do this style over and over and mostly use my ammo over melee. Exception to my rule. If my shields are low, then I lay down my heavy melee to build my shields back up; then I go back to my weapon. If I am surrounded by three banshees, or two brutes and two banshees, something to this effect, I will use heavy melee to keep myself from dying. It usually works. I can do this until I can get away from them and then hit them with my ammo.

I spec the same way. I have yet to encounter a situation where firing a gun did not accomplish the same goal as if I HADN'T taken that evolution. I finished the Predator use challenge with my Juggernaut. On Gold.

HMing basic infantry types, when they are standing next to Jugg is in most cases faster, easier and more convenient than trying to shoot them. I do it all the time, because weapons I use on him tend to suck at point-blank range. And there's that movement speed increase for HM kill.

if your Jugg build is focused around Melee and power damage, then shooting guns doesn't really make sense. That said, they still should always carry at least the Reegar and when i do it i'm re-spawning the shield in-between every heavy melee. Another thing to consider is the speed increase for every Melee kill. It helps a lot.. keeps Juggs a lot more mobile especially if paired with adrenaline module.

There are many ways to play Juggernaut. Meleeing everything can easily earn you top score in a typical gold PuG and is viable for Plat as well.

Well I think what I really had in mind is this.

When you have a good team that can sweep the trash away from the Jugg while he tanks and melees everything - it's all good and the Jugg can do his thing.

But when the team is not so good DPS wise, the Jugg should realize that and shoot more, while retreating and placing shields, rather than meleeing and getting himseff overwhelmed by little guys who will chip him to death melee or no melee.

:)

I got kicked from a gold match by a N7 of 19 for 'kill stealing' the things he was force choking. Started screaming at me and insulting me too. I can't help it if Dark Channel and the Executioner Pistol was killing things faster than he was

I know. I was Jav'stepping every Phantom a teammate Jugg picked up. Though I'll help him out by killing things faster. He didn't need shields anyway. He was rarely under heavy fire that he coudn't take.

But then he started Revenanting me every time I "killstealed" So I left him alone. He died surrounded by Dragoons and Phantoms.

I recall this one platinum game I had with Pugs awhile back. One was a jugg, except he was coward and stood behind me and the other two dudes. After the first wave one of the dudes said something like this"Get your ass up here and take some hits!!! Were all ****** if you don't!!". We wiped that wave, I was so busy laughing I couldn't save the team :P

I melee everything for two simple reasons.
1. The animation makes me giggle.
2. The sound makes me giggle.

Why skip the turret? For the Hex shield? My turret is set fully to repair shields. This helps when overwhelmed and melee alone cannot relpenish my shields.
I can also shoot it in the direction of my teammates when they are under heavy fire.

I skip it because I want to have only 1 power on CD - the shield. The shield can protect me and my healthgate and my teammates. Geth Turret doesn't help the Jugg that much, it doesn't restore a whole lot. And it won't protect the gates. And you kill the CD that I rather use for the Hex Shield or Siege pulses.
