Why do Juggs insist on meleeing everything?

Spamming melee and disregarding your gun just makes the match last longer.

So no, it's not a matter of "don't kill things fast enough".

By just doing heavy and light melee, properly built juggs usually get 1st or second on scoreboard.

megabeast: Great, you posted a built for a DPS Juggernaut...has nothing to do with tanking. Your build can't tank much of anything because you don't take Power Transfer. If playing a weapon-based Juggernaut works for you, that's fine. But you're not tanking.
I can have 2 bosses and multiple mooks beating on me at once in plat, without dying. Could probably tank 3 bosses at once for a time as long as they're not all Praetorians. You can't do that with your build, because it's built around a completely different playstyle.
If you can't get why it would be beneficial to have a teammate playing a tanking Juggernaut (as I described in my last post), then ultimately we're just talking past each other because you're fundamentally opposed to people doing anything other than shooting things.
I think megabeast's argument is that you can tank and kill stuff at the same time. If you play smart, Power Transfer is not needed. There's no need to just tank aimlessly unless you're on an objective wave and you're purposely drawing all the attention away from the objective.
I can shoot a sparrow with a cannon as well, but it's not what it was intended to be used for. Increasing your personal DPS in a platinum match with your Jugg comes at the penalty of a pure DPS class's potential. Whereas a tanking Jugg, who DPS when he can - but first and foremost tanks when needed to - can to a larger degree free up your other 3 DPSers to do 24/7 damage instead of having to relocate, hide behind cover for shield recharge or in worst case having to be revived.
Having an on-demand tank is different than a tank who whimpers behind cover because he was unable to regen his shield through the one unique mechanic of the kit that has no equal in the game.
Don't tank aimlessly; Don't dps aimlessly. Use the kit to its fullest potential with the goal of making your team work to its fullest potential.

Oh, and Phantoms will be meleed with extreme prejudice. Not only because it's useful to keep them off the team, but because rubbing their inferiority in those little jerk's faces is worth the time.

Even when they are in full health they walk around grabbing everything. Just place your freaking shield and shoot dammit. Meeleing is for survivability only not for DPS.
And sure, go ahead and grab those Phantoms. But don't toy with those troopers.
Because that's the only way I can say "I find your lack of faith disturbing"

You cannot overuse an ability that refills your shields.
You can. When you DON'T need them. Many Juggs waste 5 seconds draining a Nemesis, when they could've killed 3 enemies with Siege Pulses and gun fire. So they didn't really tank. They just spent 20 seconds toying around with fast moving enemy instead of killing a bunch of trash.

I normally shoot at the enemies with the harrier from distance at first then when they close in I switch to reegar and only melee when my shield start to get low or a phantom is nearby then I would grab her and take away her barrier and then kill her off with reegar.
this is how they should be played

QFT
It's amazing that people seem to think there has to be a choice between killing and tanking... when it's very easy to do both situationally.
Also... putting down the shield and continuing to fire is SO vastly superior to begging the turret for shields/heavy meleeing that I find the amount of people opposed to it mind-boggling.
Do they even know that you shields will go back up naturally when you're behind the shield? Or when everything is dead?

Juggs who spend their time killing trash on plat are bad Juggs. Yes, you can and should bring a ranged weapon for plinking away when no bosses are nearby, but your primary job is getting in bosses' faces and rounding them up.
If all you want is to kill trash, go play a QME or DA, they do it much better.

Why not kill everything including the bosses... while tanking? Huh?

You *can* kill things while tanking...with heavy melee. In fact it's the only way you can kill things while tanking (well, light melee and pulse shield kinda count too). Because if you're really tanking [hint: one enemy beating on you isn't tanking] you can't not afford to be restoring your shields.
And around and around the argument goes...this thread has been such a waste of my time, ugh

I think you don't fully comprehend the meaning of "tanking". You can easily have bosses trying to hug you AND make yourself useful in other ways (like shooting stuff).

I dont think Heri grasps the concept of not needing to tank because you made everything dead before you lost 1/4 of your shields.

Tanking 101: The faster stuff dies the better. And if you think that Power Transfer is a must over Squad Command, then you probably have no clue about team synergy.
