I'm usually listening to podcasts or music when I play, so no mic most of the time. Maybe if I see that the other people are already talking I'll plug in.

I usually have my mic on for PUGs (unless there are people around me making all sorts of noiz) but speak less and less these days for some reason.

That's just the madness setting in.  Don't fight it.  It'll only make it worse.

My mic is on most of the time but when I PUG it only is unmuted when I have to express my discontent for a team-mate or a few of them to kill enemies when I have been sync killed.

Most of the time I have patiences to give it a few minutes but I'll give an example of when I start to lose it. Everyone but one guy gets sync killed on a Goddess Gold Reaper run. Then the last guy proceeds to take probably upwards of 15 min to kill a marauder, brute and banshee with a quarian male infi. The weapons being used were the venom shotgun and Geth SMG. If I remember the person had warp ammo equipped but no piercing mods on either weapon.

Elitist thread. So basically "I'm better then pugs I don't have to communicate with them" attitude. Then bsners make threads of how pugs suck, how about trying to adopt and teach a pug with a mic?

P.s. post is aimed at anyone with the "I only talk to friends mentality" try attempt to communicate with your teammates who are pugs for once

I don't keep my mic on since I might start yelling at the randoms for being so stupid and worthless

I don't have a mic so I can't talk, but I enjoy listening to my teammates' random conversations.
It happens rarely though.

Thats harsh. Going into pugs you should know that some are bad. Yelling at them does not change anything also calling them worthless.

Elitist me, far from it, I wish I had the skills to be one. Had strange/weird experiences in the past when I decided to talk up in PUG games, remember one incidient with a heavy breather guy, pretty f'd up hence why I don't bother anymore.

I say thanks when I'm revived.

I usually say when its 15secs to extraction.

I usually say if there's a turret or call out enemies flanking.

But if someone's mic is open and I hear my own voice... ugh.

ok so if you hop in a lobby, (I'm gonna assume you understand the game and ur really good) and you see a couple pugs with retarded load outs but have a mic and are talking. What are you gonna do? You gonna put your mic on and attempt to explain to them they are doing it wrong, or you gonna just kick vote and be annoyed with them?

I always thank people when revived but that's about it, besides the occasional "behind us!" if praetorians or phantoms have snuck up on us.

Don't like lecturing people not my thing, if I don't like the look of the lobby I bail simple.B) And even if I decided to tell em they're doing it wrong (which I would never ever do) they could take it the wrong way. Would rather avoid being ganged up on by two strangers for giving friendly advice if not wanted.

I don't really complain about Pugs here myself, I still play plenty of Pug games when friends aren't available. Some days are good some days are bad, it's a mixed bag.

I tend to have good luck in PUGS. I tend to befriend good players long before the mics come out.

Fair enough reason. But to answer your original question crimson. I myself always have a mic about 98% of time (sometimes it brakes) but I always have it muted, but I keep it on so I can actively hear teammates and unmute to communicate if needed. I feel like playing without a mic when you have one is as bad as going Rambo and not medigelling yourself, if you can communicate with your team in a gold or plat game, then you should do it, it's gamesmanship.

P.s. slap a reegar on it!!

One of the people on my friend's list acts like a crazy preacher when the game starts to go south.

I think he tries to inspire people, but he gets kick votes after the match.

I haven't seen anyone except you say they are better than PuGs.

Some people are shy, there's no need to be judgmental about it. <_<

And many of the people in this thread spend a lot of time pointing out that we're all PuGs, not criticizing them.

in MW2, when i had a PSE Mic on, i yell out, "RPG!" they heard me loud and clear, they got clear before it struck them. on ME3 MP even i have Kinect, i keep mic turned off because i giggle like a girl and i don't want to confuse them into thinking i'm girl. well i will be, but just not now and then. because of last time, i got spammed with random friend requests cuz a guy texted me, saying, "hey baby" i'm like.. "... delete." ugh. it's funny.. but i'm not gonna turn it back on anytime.

I use my mic, although I've been having trouble with it. Regardless of whether I use my headset mic or my laptop mic (good video card, don't judge), I occasionally sound "muffled" as my friends say.

Other times I'm loud and clear. I have no idea why. Seems sometimes I'll reboot and the problem goes away. Maybe it's because I have iTunes opened? Don't know.

NOTE: If I listen to tunes as I play and use the mic, I always do through headphones / mic because I know how annoying feedback from speakers can be.
