Then again I dont know anything about how things work for console players. Some of you think that farming for credits on Rio is for those who have zero skills even though often thats their only choice since they may not have friends who play this game and are simply not considered "elite" enough to do missile speed runs.

I would like to see how good some of you high and mighty elite missile run players really are but then again I would never play with people who think their way of doing things is the best and any other alternatives are lame.

nobody said anything about "their way"
most play normal U/U games w/o niuking spawns which is what is suggested for campers cause its quicker and funner but yes it takes more skill. if all theyc are about is credits then speed running is more efficient

and you still havent answered my question
Do you really think those "elite" players would allow a player who rather recently started playing with only 3 missiles join them? Also I only got to know about this missile speed runs recently after I joined this forum two weeks ago.

It depends entirely on the map.

Giant, Reactor, Dagger, Rio? Sure.

Glacier, Jade, Condor? Hell naw.

^ This. I'll also add that the difficulty being played is another factor, there's no real need to camp in Bronze and Silver, regardless of the map [Gold depends on the inidviduals skill].

But I'd argue it's generally better if the team sticks together on Platinum but if someone wants to go solo and cleans up without getting downed, who am I to argue with the results.

Another point to consider is the character kit you're using, for example camping with the N7 Fury is completely retarded, where as you have a legit reason if you're sniping.

The last thing is the faction you're playing against, I think Collectors/Geth are better dealt with by sticking close to each other but Reapers/Cerberus can be handled by lone wolves.

if someone wants to sit in 1 spot and snipe and does it good thats fine by me. if soeone wants to sit in one spot as a demo and lob grenades and wipe out enemies thats awesome. cause there effectively killing. if someone wants to sit in a corner and wait for enemies to funnel a choke point and expects everyone to sit with them i'm not going to do it cause its boring. you play how you want i play how i want and lets all have fun

100% yes becuase we just did it. bechter organized the whole thing and los of memebers form team arelex and specter X trained and carried new people through platinum speed runs. there is a 55 plage thread here on BSN with a list of trainers and trainees to help people get credits for the new DLC.

I am sure many players would never know that way of efficiently gaining credits because most of them probably think there are far more spawns than the amount of missiles 4 players can carry...
I did learn a few things after joining this forum but I still dont think camping should be considered lame and looked down on. For those who neither visit this forum nor have experienced friends helping them camping in the box at the beginning seem to be the only choice

Can't speak for Slayin but I know I would (and have), it makes it more challenging for me. If they REALLY suck, I may start a new lobby and ditch them but if they try and we get 15-16min clears I'm good.

If you like camping and are in a lobby with my friends and I, fine. Just keep your mouth shut if I don't follow suit... Start your own lobby and tell peeps that is your plan. And your zero friends crap is just that... ****. I had less than 10 friends when I started playing this game, at it's highest point I had ~80. Finding people to play this game with isn't that hard.

its a progression

you start by camping and move to rambo'ing when you get used to it then you move up a dificulty, camp get used to it rambo etc etc. eveyrone has a limit and not eveyrone can run around on platinum and its a dam hobby and shouldn't be looked down upon but it is and will eb cause thats how the inernet is. its a co-op game so tis not a big deal but camping in PvP is so stupid and runs all the fun of games and everyone knows that. why it gets aplied to a co-op game i'll never know. anyway the resources are there. BSN, you tube channels etc etc. anyone who wants to learn more has aces if they look. nobody is stopping them.

Imagine giving up a strategically tactical position in a real life war, because your enemy or allies started whining that you were "camping."

Ein, I think the general consensus among people here is that if people can't play the game on some difficulty without resorting to hiding in a single box and exploiting a glitch in the AI, they should play on a lower difficulty. Platinum is supposed to be the most demanding difficulty. There's nothing wrong with new players sticking to difficulties that are designed around newer players.

Is there something wrong with that assessment?

exactly i had like 5 friends when i started playing ME3 MP. i ahdn't played a MP game in years but i got hooked and i made friends through randoms and BSN and team arelex reckoners clan etc etc. i've had to cycle my FL over with people i never played with to make room for other people i do. i ahve 2 clan GTs that gives me access to another 150+ people so the access again is there.

and i don't care if a random wants to camp but i don't want someone telling me how to play either. its not my job to protct anyone. i will revive you when you die if i can and i will be a good teammate, but i'm also gonna run aorund and kill things cause that is what is fun for me.

Because it's an inefficient way to get credits, and that's its only purpose: credits.  You are making gold level credits/hour while camping in a box on platinum.  That's not really that clever. Rio is a huge map and enemies spawn so far away from you that it adds significantly to the time.

That said, I don't really have a problem with it, since I never PUG platinum, and therefore never encounter it.

well is there any other alternatives for those who are rather new to easily earn credits??
If I remember correctly when i started doing Rio Platinum with a krogan soldier the only decent weapon I had  was a low level N7 pirana and 3 missiles... do you think any of those "elite" missilers would allow me joinging their games? besides some of us dont have good friends playing this game so public games are the only choice...

I'm pretty sure Team Arelex and Sub8 have open membership as in: anyone can join.  You might get kicked out if you end up being enough of a DB, but there's no formal requirements as far as I know.

I don't have any IRL friends that play this game yet  I have 67 friends on Origin. I got them by playing gold and adding the ones that impressed me (or being added by the ones whom I impressed) and also by posting in a few of the multitudinous threads that come up on BSN looking for friends. Claiming public games are the only choice (especially a year after release) is a cop out.

And frankly, you could just play PUG gold normally and you would still have maxed your Rares in a few weeks of gold playtime.  Those are more than good enough to play Platinum on any map vs. any faction no spawn nuking (or box camping) required.

There's nothing wrong with it. If you know how to do it well, it can be lovely. I will camp with someone to handle the spots they can't handle, and it trivializes the game sometimes, but of course, the crappier teammates who refuse to help ruin the game.

To quote myself...

Thinking that hiding in a box is cheap and boring doesn't mean that every single alternative to some specific playstyle is lame. Spawn nuking is a strategy. Sticking together as a team and running some biotic death squad **** is a strategy. Everyone long-wolfing it all match is a strategy (kind of, anyway).

None of these are looked down upon (usually), and there are plenty unlisted ones that aren't derided at all. It isn't like there's one exact way to play that everyone embraces. There are just a few that people look down on. I'm quite certain that you do the same.

You're wrong.

On BSN holding a position with a well coordinated team is bad.
Running from spawn to spawn and nuking it, is the best there is.

That you need to have more skill for holding a position than running from spawn to spawn and nuking it doesn't matter. BSN has spoken.

Can you please provide some vague justification for this statement? I've seen teams of campers trying to run and gun, and they fail. I've seen teams of aggressive players camping, and they have no trouble with it. Based on personal experience, what you're saying is false.

What do you need to nuke a spawn? Lots of grenades or a missile. So either have classes with a lot of grenades or use all the Armored Compartments Gear.
Difficulty on Plat: 3 out of 10 (assuming the team has any knowledge about spawnpoints).

Holding down a chokepoint against Reapers (will take the easiest faction) on Plat. Two Banshees who teleport through walls, two Phantoms trying to get from the back when Ravagers/Atlasses/Primes are shooting you from impossible angles.
Difficulty on Plat: 5 out of 10 (assuming you have a team which sticks together).

But running from spawn to spawn and nuking everything is apparantly way harder than actually some teambased play. Too bad there aren't some Youtube vids about it Image IPB

I was one of those people Upinya's talking about. I learned with a few different groups of players.

That's actually what my signature's about.

I've also defended camping as a legit strategy (and I will again!) It's not as hard as speedrunning by any stretch. And speedrunning absolutely made me a better player, and in a very short period of time.

When I use a Drell Assassin in PuGs now, I am an over-the-top DPS machine, something I'd never been before that experience. I learned how to do that while doing speedruns.

And because I've been checking all week over a Gold Dagger Waves thing, I happen to know that I have 0 Platinum Rio Waves completed, which is a little funny :P (no London, Jade, or Vancouver, either.)

Its because of the score system the reason people do so many dumb things in game is because of the score system. Seems like if a score system rewards you for being an idiot and hurting your team mates then the score system is flawed.
