Aside from Diablo 3, Blizact hasn't been doing too horribly lately. Though EA's been making a far bigger mess of things, so they've gotten far more attention.

I was wondering if someone would bring up Dia-fiascio III...Blizzard actually has two of the 5 worst launches in history under it's belt, Diablo III and WoW (not that many people here are probably old enough to rememeber that launch...)

Honestly, I can't remember that. I'm certainly old enough. I vaguely remember Warcraft from the early 90s. But WoW, all I can come up with is "One day, it just was."

Diablo III wasn't so much about the launch crisis and more about the fact they alienated a lot of long-time fans of the games.

That and it's just...not that much fun.

Anyone who played in the early days will remember this image with much the same hate we remember the "You have lost your connection to the game" text box...

Image IPB

In the days after that launch, server queues routinely reached into the thousands, random disconnections were common, and latency issues famously trapped people in a "looting" animation for a half hour. Problems were still frequent by January 2005, when GameSpot reported that 20 of the game's 88 servers were offline for the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday weekend. Blizzard's Mike Morhaime publicly apologized for the problems and offered four days of free play time for the disruption (street value: about $1.50).

Hahaha... Wow.

No pun intended.

Nice work on SimCity EA. If it worked for Blizzard, surely it'll work for you. ;)

The thread is about the security risk of playing ME3. Talking about blizzard and whatever is a good way to get the thread locked. If you want to let EA get away with serious bugs. Then go ahead and talk all the OT you want.

Well, if you want to put it that way...

EA doesn't look at the Bioware forums anyway. So what does it matter?

Technically, its about the risks inherent in Origin, which is required to play ME3MP, thus a vital component of the ME3MP user experience.

I would argue to our merciful overlords that it has also evolved into a general ME3MP user experience discussion that incorperates the discusison of other troubled online mutliplayer experiences from which we can draw parallels and hope that the almighty, all powerful developers can learn from when considering paths to improve the ME4 MP experience.

But that's just my $0.02
