I just reloaded a save, and I get a message that quite a lot of the community made mods that I had installed are gone. I loaded most of them with the DOA modmanager.

I have done two things that could have affected my game.

One, I just did a cleanup with CCCleaner, which I do periodically to tidy up temp files, etc. I noticed that some of the stuff in my temp folder were DOA files - erfs and the like. But I thought no one would ever permanently save essential files to a temp folder, so I deleted them. Sigh, I hate to ask this, but does DOA modmanager do that? It's... not a smart plan if it does.

Second, I just installed Golems of Amgarrak and witch hunt. But I think these are modular and should not affect the main game, just add stuff onto it.

There is a huge list of missing mods. I am going to try reinstalling them one by one, which is a huge pain as many require manual editing for compatibility. I hope that will do the trick.

But there are two mods that I don't recognise out of my huge list of missing mods. They're these two: Add4020
Companion Compatability core
. Can anyone tell me what these are? Is some component of the vanilla game not loading?

So I am off to fix my game... Any advice as to how I may prevent this from happening in future? Thanks in advance for any help :)

I use DAO Modmanager, and no, it doesn't behave as you've described. (I also use CCleaner, FWIW.)  Could it possibly be an OS related issue, perhaps? (I'm still running WinXP, and don't have to jump through all the same permissions hoops as users of the newer Microsoft operating systems.) :o

Companion Compatability core

Add4020 doesn't sound familiar... if it was a dazip, you might be able to figure out what is was from your Addins.xml. (If the modder included a description, that is.)

I now think that those files in temp were left over from a dark times installation that failed due to lack of disk space.

Also I think that witch hunt messed up the addins.xml. DAO Modmanager was complaining of that when loaded, and it kept giving an error until I said to ignore it. I am sure I have done over two hours reinstalling things here, but hopefully it will be done soon. I got all the community mods back on, now just trying the DLC again. I should, perhaps, find that xml file and back it up in case another mod does not play nice with it.

Got everything going, except now awakening is not showing as installed. Buuu.

Well, I guess I can just reinstall awakening when I am ready to play it? I don't want to do so now as I am worried it will affect my game again. Since it's a separate campaign it seems like that should be ok...

Does not having Awakening installed affect the main game?

Hmm, I found this post, which is interesting: http://social.biowar...7069664#7070140

But I don't see a console fix with a google search for it. Any idea how he did that?
