GI.

Was this a serious question? It's always G mfking I.

I'm think that's the answer to most any question having to do with ME3 mp...

Here's my question, seeing as you appear to be the unofficial ambassador for all things Venom- why is that it seems like people use the Venom on caster kits as much as anything (drell, shaman, fury, etc.) when its weight is so prohibitive? I've come to respect its advantages- its a staggering, mook slaughtering MACHINE, and really reliable at applying ammo effects- but I can't seem to find the right niche for it; I would tend to use it on casters, sort of the way you can use the scorpion, but then you have a poor cooldown... On the other hand, with pure weapons kits like the destroyer, human soldier, Tsoldier, GI, etc., it seems like there are better options (usually pure DPS weapons like the harrier, pirahna, typhoon, etc.). Thoughts?

Venom BatSol is totally plat viable and one of my personal fav kits for plat.  Venom QME is also a monster with a venom.  GI makes any weapon good really... including a venom.  Recently I have been totally in love with the venom smashguard as well (have not taken this kit into plat however -- he dominates the match though in gold so I should, just BC in plat makes me nervous ;p  ).

To jump in and answer your question jsut as some1 reading...  I would say that for the fury, throw's cooldown even with a heavy weapon doesnt matter.  On the drell, your have your reave and thats it CG don't have a cooldown.  Some kits like I posted above the smashguard, has a reduce weight evo for shotguns... add ulm... makes the weight totally irrelative.  On your GI weight doesn't matter with tactical damage boost cloak since as long as you fire right from cloak you have a 3 sec cooldown even at -200%.  Your destroyer, again really once you have your hawks and your dev mode on, multifrag has no cooldown, so again... rock -200% it really doesn't matter.

I use it on anything, no ULM or rank 6 a in passives. The cooldowns are overrated anyway, Venom is already destructive without any power use on mooks and most bosses too, I find it only annoying to deal with a crab or an Atlas.

Those usually only spam one power that causes a cooldown (Reave, BC, TC, Shockwave, Throw) and are pretty short.
I don't find the Venom heavy at all. And imo there's a rhythm to every weapon/power use. I assume most people who use light weapons on their casters and find weapons like the Venom for example too heavy, don't really make use of their weapon and just want to spam their powers. You have to equip a gun, use it.

Blah blah better options. I use whatever is fun to me, don't care about better options.

Noted.

This "bgsam" must be an awesome guy. I've met & played with the other two + you Dida, I'm sure he keeps the trend going.

even if he does play on lolpeesea.

Fair enough. And that's true about the drell as well I suppose- pull has a short cooldown, and pull+reave kills most mooks, so your cooldown AFTER the reave isn't as important, and reave+CG is similar since by the time you've thrown your grenade you've already got like a 1 sec headstart on the reave cooldown. But then with the shaman, you want to pull off biotic explosions and you have two powers with decent cooldowns (more than throw or pull at any rate)- maybe do more of a weapons build and focus more on running around and warp+shotgun all the things rather than pulling off combos? I may play around with this tonight.

Yeah, that was one thing that got me- with power characters you often have a gun, or several guns, that you use most frequently, and you get into a rhythm and sort of anticipate when your cooldown is ready, so when you switch to something with a different cooldown your timing gets messed up.

Anyways, will try to tinker with a stagger-machine kro-shaman later, see if that tickles me the right way.

I don't like it. Just a personal taste since I don't like waiting half a round for my gun to charge up.

Eh, I think the BatSoldier is far more destructive with it than the GI. There is nothing in this game that can last more than a few seconds with a BatSoldier with the Venom. I would rate both cloakless Drell above the GI as well.

Venom is up there with lolcolyte, reegar and a few more crutches. Very good weapon regardless of kit but sadly frowned upon. It aint gonna stop me from using it though.

Exaggeration showing how I don't like charge-up weapons. They just don't feel like guns, IMO. :?

When I had it at 4 it was underwhelming, I heard good things so after a few upgrades I took it out and it was amazing.

great for crowd control, and its quite satisfying to see phantoms go flying after just a couple shots

but meh, really don't like the way it forces you to kind of avoid boss units till the end of the wave budget

Great gun. Only really used it since I got it above VII. One thing to watch out for is against Collectors, it send abominations flying towards you.

Easiest weapon to use in the game, no needs skill or aiming at all and it's not that awesome.

The AOE it's useful though.

I'm a habitual Falcon user, so the extra weight took some getting used to. I haven't fallen in love with it yet, though it seemed to work well when I tried it on on BatSent and GE.

It can make sure work on mook spawns in every difficulty except platinum, I noticed that it's absolute crap* on platinum if you don't charge it up first
