Venom is a great weapon... but I really don't like it.

Why?

Firstly, because I think great utility and good DPS shouldn't come in the same package; it trivializes so many things that are supposed to be challenging. There are several weapons and kits I personally prefer not to use because I feel like they break some of the fundamental design choices the balance of the game is based on, and Venom is one of them.

Secondly, because it doesn't reward good aim and can't score headshots. A major reason why I'm able to stay interested in this game is my constant aspiration to improve as a player, and aiming is a fundamental skill in any shooter. With a weapon like Venom I feel like I'm not challenging myself at all and therefore not improving at all.

(That said, I don't mind others using Venom and I don't look down on them at all, it's all just my personal preference.)

It may not be the most powerful weapon (that's not an analytical appraisal) but I always have fun with it.... Its my preferred shotgun to have fun with.
