I didn't read the thread; only the OP.

If you take the Hex Shield evo to increase damage, the Fitness 6b option isn't that bad. 5% isn't going to make a difference if you're all about support and tanking. However, it's not really effective for an experienced player. For new/average players those extra Health/Shields can be very helpful. Don't forget that not everybody has 100s of cyclonics or maxed gear.

To clarify: This is only relevant for players that really struggle on higher difficulties or don't have any strong guns. It's better to live and distract than to die and bleed out every wave.

I agree with you about players not having endless Cyclonics or strong weapons taking 6b in fitness.

The reason I take big shield (as I've said ad nauseum) is because it offers a greater tactical advantage of being able to actually... you know... shield the team. Especially useful for incoming Atlas Rockets/Banshee Balls/Plat spawn heavy enemy fire/shielding off half of a hack circle/protecting escorts from the mob of enemies trailing the escort circle... and it offers the best right hand advantage in the game (seen in the pic on page 4).

...and I'm not all about support and tanking... I'm about support, tanking and killing effectively all at the same time.

Screw the team megabeast, most pugs are going to shoot your shield anyway.  Hell most of the time I hide half the shield inside the left wall to give me RHA and protect my shield from teammates.

I get what you're saying if we are talking about friends that understand how to play or how to set up the shield but GD most PUGS don't.

LOL... yeah, I don't PUG too often.. I have a lot of good friends. Typically when I PUG I bring a super high DPS character... since I can't count on them to kill anything.

Even my good friends shoot the shield sometimes... but that's ok, typically by the time they shoot it, it has served it's purpose (to stop incoming fire) and I don't need it at that very second typically because I've killed a few of the enemies on the other side of it and regenerated by shields while doing so.

I should've mentioned that (imo) your biuld is definitely better for experienced players. It just isn't always the best idea for new/average players to copy BSN biulds. Especially those ignoring Fitness and focusing on heavy use of weapons.

I play plat occasionally. Just not my cup of tea. I did finish my map mastery though. So now BSN says my opinion matters. Yay me.

And I'm up to 3 friends now.

the reason you don't take the turret (allies shield restore - they are too far away)  is the reason I wouldn't take squad command.

Am I missing something with it? it says in the description that allies get a 10% damage boost (within 4 meters); you don't. However, the last evo on the shield (6a) does give you a 10% boost in damage.

Usually, in a PUG, since the teamates are a lot faster than me, at best 1 teamate is within 4 meters. And "in-game" 4 meters seems a lot smaller based on some other powers' range, than what I would think.

I agree on skipping the turret. It's retstore is anemic relative to what I can get with HM. I will try the big shield.

Erm, maybe if you had a shotgun with omni-blade and ONLY a shotgun:blink:.

Tanking gameplay gets a tad boring for me, and I'm not the type of person who feels good scoring dead last with a wide chasm in score between me and 3rd place, no matter how successful the match is.  Tanking most of the time doesn't seem to involve much more than heavy melee for about 90% of the Juggernauts in ramdom games.

The gameplay simply isn't very involving of the player when it's like that, and actually firing his shotgun doesn't seem to change that up by much.  The gameplay in that manner reminds me of that old trauma in Final Fantasy 13 in which you press X repeatedly, occasionally do a paradigm shift, then proceed to stupidly mash X again.  It simply doesn't feel like the game requires an actual player to do that as opposed to my cat.<_<

Tanking =/= taking damage.
Tanking = forcing enemies to focus on specific person/place.

thanks for the tip about the shield - much more effective way to play. It is a much better "shield restorer" than the turret, and works as well as melee really.

i have to say tho, I have tried out several weapons on him, and I strongly prefer the Spitfire (@X). The typhoon is a great weapon no question, and on any other class I would prob take it, but while the Typhoon does do clearly more damage against armor, that is mitigated somewhat by the Spitfire's superiority against shields, and slap on the HB and the Spitfire does pretty decent damage against armor. The main thing I found with the Typhoon was that even with extended clip and barrage V, I was still heading to the ammo box a lot (and reloading too), and that tends to cut my DPS down (to zero). With the Spitfire/HB/EC, I can almost go an entire wave without hitting the box (no barrage), and even if not, there is plenty of time to mosey to one while firing non-stop.

Also, I typically easily get 20HS with the Spitfire (it is stable), which increases my effectiveness. The Typhoon, i might get 10.

That's entirely untrue, and you've obviously never played with a competent Juggernaut.  Playing the way I do, my group tends to do Plat in less than 40 minutes on average.

WOW FORTY MINUTES?!

I think only Rio's Box of Shame would take longer.

treid it. not as effective for me. Runs out too fast. I can fire for 1 min straight, and kill about 10-15 mooks, and a boss. cannot do that with the PPR.

Love the PPR, possibliy best gun in game, but for the Juggy, I prefer the Spitfire. but whatever works for you....

I'm a bit embarrassed to say that I didn't even look at the fine print for Fitness evo 6. I assumed it was a standard fitness tree. Now I know why even geth weapons were underwhelming on my Jugg.

When I play the jugg effectively, I tank effectively.
Not worrying about kills and score.

That's pretty much how I play him except I got rid of Hex Shield since people were complaining about my shield being in the way too much (without even spamming it). Besides, the turret is kind of helpful for healing teammates behind me just in case things slip by. I do miss my hex shield though.

I use a PPR and Wraith with him; too much ammo humping on Platinum for me to use the Reegar. One of my friend ONLY uses the Reegar and dear lord he's at the ammo box every other minute.

I like to do a heavy melee until shields are gone, which is normally just holding the melee button down once, and then fire off a quick wraith shot to the head. That's normally enough to finish the mooks off. I think I'll switch my build up to this and give it a shot though. I normally spec for pure tank since 99% of the time I use him it's on Platinum, and I have 2 randoms and 1 friend.

Anyways, build differences aside, I agree people shouldn't just HM and nothing else. Hopefully people will take away from this. Although, the random Jugs I run into I don't mind if that's all they do. I just throw on a Justicar, pop the bubble up, and watch everything go boom.

You do know you can kill and tank at the same time right? That's the purpose of the thread... which I'm going to assume you didn't read.

Well I went down more than normal lol.  Any time I threw the shield up to keep from dying the Pirahna GI destroyed it within a second.  Only went down 3 times in that match though.  Other than that it was pretty nice.  I'll try again later with the Typhoon/Reegar setup.

PPR/Reegar will work too. The Reegar is just to rape face when you get enemies close to you.

If the randoms are destroying your shield... then yeah... it's hard to regen them so you have to heavy melee... or use an OPS pack.
