Can't vote as my option is not on the list, i want to play a 12 year old and learn by growing up.

I liked Shepard's age range, but I'd say anywhere from late 20s to late 30s works for me. I don't really enjoy when kids are saviors of the world (well most of the time anyways).

25-35.

27-35-ish. Pretty mych how imagine Shepard from ME. Mature but not old. The phrase "Prime of his/her life" comes to mind.

I wouldn't mind playing younger (20-ish) or older (40ish) if it could somehow be acknowledged in the game... but then some romance interests would just feel plain awkward I'm guessing.

I find the idea of a character in their mid-to-late 20s having no life experience, and starting at level 1 ridiculous, let alone if they're 30/40/50 or older.

Even worse would be if you do get that 30/40/50+ year old character, and they 'did' have the experience that they 'should' have because then you'd start with tons of life experience and start at high level. At which point you may as well throw leveling out the window and forget about making an RPG.

I don't see why so many people are complaining about having an older character starting at level 1. That's just a game mechanic, I don't think its really that relevant in lore. Even Shepard started out at level 1 in ME1 despite the fact that he was already a veteran in the Alliance's most elite special forces unit. He was also a serious Spectre candidate from very beginning. Think about it, the Spectres were THE best operatives in the entire galaxy and Shepard was considered good enough to be one even at level 1.I am sure that lorewise, his combat skills must have improved by the end of the game. Although, you can't seriously think that that improvement was anywhere near as obvious as it was in-game for the players themselves. Yeah, Shepard got a bunch of new abilities and gear and he was much more powerful in combat. He was basically a god compared to what he was at level 1 but lorewise, he didn't actually improve THAT much.

So yeah, what I'm saying is that you don't need to feel awkward about playing a veteran soldier at level 1. They could easily make up some lore reason for why he feels so weak at the beginning of the game ( ie- he could be injured). Just because he is level 1 doesn't automatically mean that he must be an incompetent noob.

Look at Witcher 2 for example. In that game you play as a hardened badass from the very beginning. Your character has already had tons of experience in fighting powerful enemies and even he starts out at level 1. In Final Fantasy 10, the player got to play as Auron ( a guy who's already saved the world once before) very early in the game.

Level 1 in-game doesn't have to mean level 1 in lore.
