There are multiple rumours and speculations that the brunt of the game will take place in or around orlais. This means that we'll probably be conversing a lot with the upper class there. I hope i'm not the only one when I hope that they please keep the french upper class orlesian accent to a minimum.

I mean, yes, it does do a good job of sounding like they're better then you, but I really don't want to listen to it the entire game... In DA:O it was reduced to a minute amount, and DAII had a just bareable amount, But I wanted to rip off my ears by the end of mark of the assassin.

Please bioware, spare us

I cannot stand the Orlesian accents in both games...especially Anoras elf servant. Bah.

I want a french accented protagonist myself. Though I want it to be a real accent like Leliana's.

They won't be playing it up because they won't be "funny foreigners" like many of them have been in previous games (particularly DA2), so they shouldn't be annoying.

I think they painted themselves a little bit into a corner with the accents. I mean does everyone from Starkhaven sound Scottish? The NPC's in Kirkwall all spoke with Ferelden/English accents.

That would be the closest equivalent, yes.

Well, I'd hate to break your dreams, but since English accent is the most "neutral", the most likely accent our PC will get is just that. It would irritate far more players, if the PC was for instance Orlesian, and they would have to listen to the Orlesian accent in every dialogue.

What's this "French"? Do you mean Orlesian?

I think they should go for acting over accents personally, if the actor does a good job acting while putting on an accent that's fine, but if the actor has a hard time acting while keeping the accent you should ditch the accent and just go with the acting.

Orlais seems to have an accent, but everyone still speaks the same language, I wonder if people in Thedas have different languages.

People have got to get over themselves. There is nothing wrong with the French accent. Trust me, there are worse accents out there. Examples? Nasaly Australian, Canadian and American accents, Welsh, Irish, Scottish, English (to a degree) and Kiwi accents. But the French accent isn't annoying.

The French have a more refined accent (as per their general attitude) than most. I'm looking at Americans, specifically those that haven't been trained vocally (i.e. actors and singers).

My guess is it's more of a prejudice against the French, rather than an actual distaste for the accent.

The Orlesians are going to sound normal and Fereldans are going to have a russian accent.

Not everything is about prejudice or racism believe it or not<_<. The accent as it was presented in some of the over the top Orlesian characters(Isolde, Delancet, etc) was nothing short of comical.
