I remember some fools talking about Leliana's "fake accent," actually.

Reminds me of how Knights of the Old Republic had a lot of made up alien-speak with subtitles, though that was a bit different. They seemed to say "Mucha-shaka-packa" and other looped phrases a lot.

I never said racism. If there's something racists don't look down upon, it's somebody's accent. It's purely different skin colours and sometimes cultures.ForThessia wrote...
Not everything is about prejudice or racism believe it or not<_<. The accent as it was presented in some of the over the top Orlesian characters(Isolde, Delancet, etc) was nothing short of comical.Orian Tabris wrote...
People have got to get over themselves. There is nothing wrong with the French accent. Trust me, there are worse accents out there. Examples? Nasaly Australian, Canadian and American accents, Welsh, Irish, Scottish, English (to a degree) and Kiwi accents. But the French accent isn't annoying.
The French have a more refined accent (as per their general attitude) than most. I'm looking at Americans, specifically those that haven't been trained vocally (i.e. actors and singers).
My guess is it's more of a prejudice against the French, rather than an actual distaste for the accent.
Besides, what the OP is talking about, is not that some of the Orlesian characters so far have been awful, it's that he doesn't want to have to listen to more than a few Orlesians in the entire game (not totally over-expectational, mind, since it's about mages and templars, not Orlais).

And the orlesian accent sound a lot like of what we are trying to completly eliminate during our English course, in even more exagerated
And it's reminds me of all my flaw of when I'm tying to speak English without being drunk xD
But with a litte self derision, it's amuse me.

What are you talking about? Pretty much all the Orlesian accents in the Dragon Age series have been fake, incredibly exaggerated stereotypical french accents. Saying you don't like them isn't racist at all.
The only Orlesian character who had a genuine french accent was Leliana, though hers was also unique because it was a anglicised french accent, as befitted her background.

Presumably it'd be easier in games where the acting is done in a sound booth or whatever, rather than running around some identifiable locale.
My hope is for proper french actors with genuine french accents playing Orlesian characters who aren't stereotypically cheesy cyphers. Would also not object to a well acted Orlesian PC.

Well, Daphne on Frasier had a fake british accent despite being british. Largely because it was a different british accent.
(Doesn't apply to Leliana/Corinne Kempa. Possibly just people being put off by the fact that she's also got a fait bit of british mixed in there. Or people just mixing up "fake accent" with "I don't like the accent/the voice acting in general"

When my cousins who were born and raised in France, learned English, they were taught to speak it with a British accent...because that was considered "proper." If they're speaking English with a "Pepe LePew" exaggerated accent, they're being silly and making fun of what foreigners think of the French.
It's like hearing Americans speak Spanish with a very "American" accent. They can be understood, but it's preferable to speak the way the natives do.

I've taken these meanings from Dictionary.com:
Prejudice
[prej-uh-dis] Show IPA noun, verb, prej·u·diced, prej·u·dic·ing. noun
1. an unfavourable opinion or feeling formed beforehand or without knowledge, thought, or reason
2. any preconceived opinion or feeling, either favorable or unfavorable.

I won't like it, but I'm not going to storm Bioware headquarters.
French accents (and French in general) just sounds awful to my ears. I don't know why. But that's a personal problem, so who am I to tell Bioware what to do?

Well i was jousting in southern england, and I was told of for putting crappy fake French accent and I am French...
There are so many script show that they expected the French dude to speak like inspecteur Clouzeau. (we do competitrive jousting, so there is not goody or baddy)
So it is more a matter of expectation

Otherwise it just doesn't sound good.
Most people with accents tend to learn the language second hand, or didn't learn the pronunciantions.
