Her French accent was silly and grating... So I assume it was a real accent and the voice actress is from Montreal :P

If we're going to be in Orlais I'd rather hear actual French spoken by Orlesians than French-accented English. However, I highly doubt they'll make half the game in a foreign language (for the main English-speaking market), so I'm just hoping for good French accents - perhaps going the Assassin's Creed route and throwing a few French words in to let us know when we're meant to be speaking Orlesian (French).

For some reason, this never occured to me.  It would be neat for the Orlesians to actually speak French, and we get translations or subtitles.

It would be fun to be able to speak it back to them too. :)

Yes.  Louiza Patikas is half-british half-greek.

Well I'm not sure about having French words throw in the mix.
I still remember Leliana talking about a dog called Bonbon.
She says bonbon with an english accent ....I still don't understand why...speaking english with a french accent and then french word with english accent.

I hope it was a mistake .And it's just one word ...but if orlesians starts having english accents when they talk about their cities , like Val Royeaux ,Val Forêt or Mont de Glace...It just seems really out of place.

Can't see what all the fuss is about TBH.

After all, Jean-Luc Picard is a Frenchman with an English accent.....

If the (male) inquisitor sounds like Robert De Sable (AC1) or Riordan then i won't really be bothered by it. As long as it's not a thick and corny, then I can bare it, but I would personally prefer an accent that sounds like an educated american (not the southern american accent, those are atrocious).

I quite like the French accent. If the protagonist was Orlesian and the male version had the same VA as Riordan/Stroud, I would be very happy. His voice is lush!

I quite like the accents, even though they are shown in a humourous manner in some instances. Plus some of themare very attractive. I hope we get a smooth Orlessian accent that can pull of a french Robin Hood really well..

I'll have to wait for a lets play to see how many things play out in DA3, never preordering again after DA2 and ME3. If the main character has a an accent that isn't tough and/or if most of the people make me wana stab myself in the ear drums I'll avoid this.

Deadspace 3 may be the last EA game I play.

I have a passionate hate of Orlais like Loghain.

French people are fine but I hope there's an option to repeatedly express your loathing of the Orlaisians.

There are multiple rumours and speculations that the brunt of the game will take place in or around orlais. This means that we'll probably be conversing a lot with the upper class there. I hope i'm not the only one when I hope that they please keep the french upper class orlesian accent to a minimum.

I mean, yes, it does do a good job of sounding like they're better then you, but I really don't want to listen to it the entire game... In DA:O it was reduced to a minute amount, and DAII had a just bareable amount, But I wanted to rip off my ears by the end of mark of the assassin.

Please bioware, spare us :)

I think people from different regions in France speak English with different levels of "sounding like they're better then you". A really strong upper class Parisian accent can sound very different from a villager from Provence when speaking English, so there is plenty of room to play around with how they want the accent to sound for different characters depending on their background.

I'd say stick with the French accent in Orlais for continuity...

I would be awesome if they spoke French and we had the option to just speak back in English VERY... SLOWLY... AND... LOUDLY. Then they'd get all annoyed :D

Or better yet we'd say things that were completely wrong in French.

Shopkeeper: "Would you like to buy this sword?"
PC: "I want to lick a puppy, please mother."
Shopkeeper: "Bloody Fereldans..."

I really hope the player character has an orlesian accent. Variety is a good thing. We've had enough English english for a bit.

Well, presumably everyone in Orlais speaks Orlesian, not Fereldan. If that is the case, I don't think there's anything wrong with them having an English accent, since we're not actually hearing the precise words they're speaking in the first place.

It's a convention of storytelling. No different than basically every alien outside of the quarians (oddly) having an American/Canadian accent in Mass Effect when obviously they should have totally unique accents if their words are being translated or spoken into English.

And not every Orlesian character needs to have a theatrical, over-the-top sounding accent. Two good examples of French accents that weren't over the top were Leliana and Riordan.

Would anyone be disappointed if the actor who voiced Riordan also voiced the protagonist, or one of your companions?

I know I wouldn't. Riordan sounded like a bad@ss.

Uh... Yeah, we already had a player charater with that accent. Origins had one of the voice options being Orlesian accented. Which actually really bugged me, because a born-and-raised Ferelden having that accent was just weird.

Still, that happening in DA3 would be a bigger deal, because your character has full acted lines like Mass Effect and DA2. At least I think I remember reading that. I think that if they let your character from other countries as their background, like Antiva, the accent should change accordingly. I wouldn't mind my character having Zevran's accent ^_^.

Complete with a hornless Qunari wearing a 19th century uniform in the background. I'd say the rumor is pretty much confirmed at this point (along with DA going steampunk).

It did? Never noticed that, but then again, I'm not always the most observant person. Which one was it?

Okay, editing my last 2 posts to say nothing, putting everything into this post. The last ones are going to get too edit-filled and messy.

The human sultry and elven sultry voice both have an Orlesian accent.

Video here at 7:30 for the human example

The actress who does those voices is the same person, Kath Soucie... Who, incidentally, voices Marjolaine too.

There. Sorry I had to triple post, I was constantly finding more out as I went on, which made me post kind of all over the place with edits.
