Tchoky is so nice... look at him spreading the love.

Also... if you make one 'popular' friend... you can typically become friends with their friends over time and infiltrate their little circle of buddies. This is the best way to get friends IMO... not sucking/being stingy with gels/missiles goes a long way too.

Look at megabeast.  He was once a lowly peasant until he met me.  Or was it the other way around?

This has happened to me several times from playing ME3, as well as other games.  :alien:

A lot of peopel already have their own groups that they play with.  I just got done clearing a bunch of people I've never played with because they don't take my invites ever.

I PUG almost exclusively to enjoy all the different ways of failing as a team that are in the game. It is amazing.

No, not really, But there is more variety of builds and playstyles encountered in PUGs then in private groups.

I only PUG cause playing with friends I might as well let my toons be naked cause that's how ridiculously easy the game is and very boring to me. I like the variety of PUGs, good or bad. Keeps the MP interesting.

Because I enjoy carrying people. When I play with dudes that are just too good, the game gets extremely boring. Some people enjoy playing Platinum games that last like 15 minutes or less, but I don't. There's no challenge, especially in Gold games.

Because I just don't ever use a mic, which I believe is expected and a necessity to converse with your friends,  so I just don't see the point of playing with the same people again and again.

I also know that eventually a "friend" will want me to play something when I don't want to, but i'll end up doing it anyway a few times and then never playing with them again because i've got stuff to do at times. I'd be much more willing if the PS3 could hide yourself from being active to your friends list, like the Xbox. All we have is that yellow circle by our names (busy or something), which is obviously a lie when what your currently playing is shown below your profile image.

I knew I remember your name. Played with you earlier today... If your avatar is the same as your GT.

It only matter so much as I will be trying out a certain new MMO Beta this weekend.
I will not be quitting this game though, as I do enjoy it.(Certain people in my household wouldn't agree as I tend to yell at randoms for stupidity. Not using a mic of course.)

Why do you PUG?

Actually, once you know how the Xbox system works, it's almost impossible for someone in your Friend List to successfully hide. Frankly, if you're in someone's "recent players" list it's virtually impossible.

Not that it would make you feel any better, but it doesn't really work on Xbox, either.

I PUG mainly because I hate chatter on mics. So many people just chats endlessly on mics.

Also, getting people together for games take FOREVER. Everybody wants to bring a friend. Just go already. Once we're done, the person can join the next game. Not to mention ME3MP doesn't join well and all that.

Because I find the process engaging. Not exactly fun per-se, but definitely engaging, and also very challenging.

There is a connotative dissonance that occurs while I pug play, as my mind tries to reconcile opposing thought processes. Bridging notions of what should be done v.s. what needs to be done. Like, notions of being a team player while at the same time the team puts themselves in a very bad position prone to failure. Do I stay and help, should I be selfish and leave?

Its sort of that storybook situation. The experienced soldier, well accustomed to the battlefield, knowing what should be done in order to succeed, but put into a situation that goes against all their training and experience.

Its engaging. Even when met with total failure.

I do the same thing as you OP (except I haven't bothered keeping my friends list manageable). And I don't really know why. I mean part of it is because with my bizarro schedule at work I'm not always playing at the same time as people in my friends list. But now I'm home injured for work for weeks on end and playing generally the same time frame and I still pug more often than not. It's kind of tied into my social anxiety in a weird way. Can't really explain it.

i pug because i enjoy the sadism.

I decided to do some waves with asari vanguard (whom i dont like v much) at level 15 for commando challenge. and Predator Pistol for Pistol challenge. I go to silver lobby and add some level 1 equipment.
Wave 1 seems to take an inordinate amount of time to finish, and one player dies. Oh dear. Fine. Wave 2 is a bit better. Then on wave 3, there are atlases. WTF? Host sneakily changed it to Gold :-/ I did better than I expected, altho wave 4 I died and had to medigel, because the other 3 were not medigelling. Wave 5 was a struggle, two players died and bled out. Wave 6 was not too bad. Wave 7 i died a lot, used 2 medigel, then gave up because 2 players couldnt be bothered to medigel.

Asked host why he switched it to gold? He doesnt reply , switches it to silver lobby. I leave.
