Didn't we mention that the net code/architecture/whatever is ****? Sorry. It still wins, though.

How do those gift packages work?... Are they random or are they given out after a set amount of time?

Once you start playing you'll be unable to stop.

If it's not going to cost you anything (other than time), go for it. But I would not spend any real money on this game. At this point, it's hard to say how much support MP will have left.
But you need to keep in mind that lots of people will give you crap for not having much items and stuff.
And the in-game store is INCREDIBLY frustrating, so you really need to prepare yourself for that.

It's never too late.
Started a new manifest last week. Planning on maxing it out.

Started playing mutliplayer randomly a month or so ago while waiting for the Citadel DLC, I'm not any good at it at higher levels but it's fun to run around on bronze and annihilate everything =)

The player base is still very strong, but make sure to download all the MP dlc first (its free), as you wont find any games without it.
MP made me forget there was ever a story-ending controversy.

If you don't care about maxing your manifest, go for it. I can't imagine how frustrating it would be for a completionist having to start playng with the huge amount of rare/ur stuff they added over the past months

It's definitely too late. Literally no one will play with you unless you have 10 maxed out ultra rares and at least n7 rating of 1000.
