Raider is awesomesauce - add a dash of it to any kit, and watch the badass quotient go through the roof. High cool down for power kits? All that means is your kit wants more opportunity to RAIDER, the cool down isn't because of the weight but because your character DOESN'T WANT TO STOP FIRING to be distracted by "powers."
RAIDER makes everything better. Sure, a kroguard can rock a reegar, but you know he doesn't feel fulfilled without the QUAD-SHAKING boom-boom of the raider. Can't kill some things with one shot like the RAIDER's brutish monosyllabic cousin? BOOM BOOM is always better than one shot - learn the joy of one shotting two mooks in quick succession, faster than is possible even with the best reload cancelling, faster than the "oh I don't feel like firing too quickly between shots" delicate temperament of the dainty wraith.
I could do this all day.

Love the Raider, in MP and SP. Its brought new life to a bunch of classes for me. I especially love it on my Vanguards and Paladin. Its one of the only actual shotguns in the game, and isn't just a multi-pellet rifle.

I have to disagree, OP. The Raider does NOT go by "High Lord Almighty Raider"; for it is in fact an angel of death and an instrument of judgment dispatched by God to send his enemies- and ours- straight into hell.

I use Raider with my Batarians mainly.. because they are often less weight sensitive.
Too heavy compared to Wraith / Piranha.. not as charming as Claymore.
