I personally would have rather seen Platinum with more of a Gold level spawn system BUT Platinum level Enemy Health/Damage (and maybe even higher amounts).

I do agree that Platinum is a bit too much boss spam to be enjoyable beyond a few classes. Quite frankly it makes some classes shine and others look like sh*7... while most everything is very playable and effective on Gold.

I dont play it much just because I dont care to, and the few friends I play with enjoy playing Gold, and at this point I'm only playing the game to have fun with friends.

Kinda late to complain now though as I doubt anything will change inregards to Platinum or any new sort of difficulty.

Every character has a a niche they can really shine at imo. Thus, group synergy really helps on platinum (imagine that...teamwork?!). The only time I really felt gimped was playing a batarian gauntlet volus vanguard on UUP that came up collectors. Now THAT was rough.

I do play platinum for fun. Yes there's a lot of bosses. I completely disagree with OP that certain classes are trivial on platinum. I've seen my friends and I make some of the screwiest things work. As I said before, if you don't like platinum. Easy solution, don't play it. Please don't assume, however, I only play it for credits...

I play Platinum for fun, and a good place where I can use my most OP combinations imaginable without any shame.

My preference of games in order:
1) U/U/G
2) U/U/P
3) Any set plat games (for speedrun or otherwise).

I agree that Platinum trivialized too many loadouts. U/U/G is where the fun is; not too hard but not too easy either. U/U/P if the team is a good one.

I think Gold is almost as hard as platinum (many factors, maybe due to lesser ranked equip/weps/people don't lock down an area as much - or play with the team U/U/G PuG)

But you get so little credits compared to platinum. And platinum is a joke with a good team setup, a Justicar like someone mentioned is amazing, reave + biotic sphere /w warp and dmg reduction ftw. 
   (Also, the biotic sphere staggers mooks, like constant CC, and if you get grabbed in the bubble a biotic detonation
   is usually enough to save whoevers getting sync-K.Od.)

I run it with a black widow IX and a hurricane 2 (:<) with power amp and ultralight, her cooldowns aint that bad and I usually score in the 130-180k range.

TLDR: Gold is not really worth it to me. Platinum is also faster gameplay (game sped up additionally 5% or so ?) which I enjoy. I can wipe on gold without getting many credits while PuGing. Then I feel ashamed, and wear my pink dress of shame.
But then usually i get a buddy on and we do platinum and make alot of dough, and blow up stuff with vorcha / tech user or justicar / adept.

I'm a wee bit intoxicated, will try to edit after pillow meets face.

Platinum is hard for me. Maybe because I have NO friends that enjoy doing it. I'm stuck with a bunch of idiots that have 100 N7 ratings with barely any equipment that are not lvl 20. If you guys want to have fun (no rockets... well, unless you want to speed up target rounds) then add me on Xbox.

that's pretty much my reasoning

don't like plat mainly for limiting ability to use gimmick builds and the huge damage done by enemies makes some of their bs real difficult to tolerate on plat

I don't mind it but I don't have fun playing several games of u/u/p like I would u/u/g

I don't mind farming certain maps on Plat, but I will not PUG Plat.

Now Gold, I don't mind PUG'ing at all, with any character, any level. If I have one even OK teammate, I know we will make it through.

All melee kits and off-host vanguards except kroguard and batguard.

OT I find gold boring unless i'm playing full melee classes. I enjoy platinum unless its geth. Collectors too, but i can play them if i am prepared specifically(warp rounds and such). I mostly play reapers and cerberus and the matches go much smoother(usually 18-25 minutes, depending on map/friends). They key is to nuke the spawns on waves 7,8,9(this is when the primes spawn as well). You get a much more exciting match where camping is not an option and a whole lot of credits to enjoy.

Asari vanguard and drell vanguard are both devastating on platinum. As for melee builds, I never have any issues running a krogan sentinel (not warlord) or soldier in a melee setup.  I've still been guilty of human vanilla inf melee from time to time as well.  I've also had success running the nova guard, sometimes with nova, sometimes without.   Just comes down to what you're comfortable with I suppose.

I hate plat.
I get invites for Plat lobbies sometimes and I don't think I've accepted even one and if I have I've either not realized that it was Plat or I whined that it was Plat.
I do a lot of niche and gimmick builds for my own enjoyment much of them are not plat types.
Gold on the other hand is too easy with a team full of friends.

So I PUG most of my matches... or play other games.
