My fiance romanced Liara for his playthrough, and I romanced Kaidan. I told him that during that last scene with Liara, she really stole some of my DNA to make an Asari baby. I'd find it hilarious, but I think the general consensus is a no on the idea.
Well you'd be wrong then, everyone agrees thats what she was doing.

The gift does mean alot, specially that it was highly likely that shepard will die. the gift might mean a child a way out for shepard someone to carry his/her legacy this is specially true if the player is a femshep.
for asari it would be different keeping shepard's dna would truly be something gained.

And tick off everyone who prefers other characters for their love interest and give even more fuel to the fire that Liara is the writer's pet? No. I got a better idea.
Have the character be Shepard's child if you ended with a romance that could result in it actually being Shepard biological child (human or Asari), or an adopted child of whatever race you want (Shepard and Tali decided to adopt one of Wrex's kids if you choose that for example, or Shepard and Garrus adopt a Turian orphan when he/she was a small child). This way, favorites aren't being played and you can still have a connection to Shepard. It would also let you play as whatever race you want because Shepard and their LI could adopt a kid of a bunch of different races and it still work.
Great idea and if Mass Effect 4 was based on Shepard and Liara's child it would just tick off all those who had other LI's and give Liara haters an even bigger reason to hate her character.A Unique thing about this concept character though is that Liara'schild can exist regardless if you chose her as your li or not.:innocent:
and again i must point outshe would not be the main character or the player maybe just a recruitable.
Yeah you wont play as her, would that still tick others though?
I don't think you realise that doesn't make things better. You are suggesting something which nullifies player agency: Liara has sheps baby whether the player likes it or not. IF the player romaced her, I don't see a problem, but don't force something like that on the player. I didn't romance Liara for a reason, last thing I want is her having my child, I don't care what the rationale is. 'Sheps legacy', I think Shep has left enough of a legacy behind; stopping godlike space monsters from causing galatic wide extinction and all.

I don't recall seeing Artifex_Imperius state the child has to be Shepard's.

how about this:
not forced upon you or influence your choice.
liaras child is not born out of your choice but separate. your character can choose to romance any other li and have a child with that li.
but this child is born out of liara's choice. therefore it does not affect your story or the cannon li you choose.
the child of liara can even meet the child of your li. hehe
does that add drama to it?

If Liara has a child with someone else (if not romanced)? Don't see a problem with that, same goes for Shep having a kid with his/her respective LI

There's another option that I'm surprised no one's thought of yet. It's way out there, but given BW track record....
Was I the only one that got to that point in the story (thinking that Shep would die) saw that scene and then thought of the scene from Wrath of Khan where Spock stores his being in McCoy?
Granted, in this case, I'm suggesting that Liara (believing Shepard would die) copied Shepard's consciousness with a thought that she might implant it elsewhere later,.
Makes no sense, right?
Until you consider the recent Clone Shep business. Maybe Cerberus weren't the only one's that cloned Shepard. After all, The Shadow Broker has very considerable resources. Liara (whether you romanced her or not) is infatuated with Shepard. People do weird things for love.
Maybe she xeroxed Shepard's essence and has a clone back at Shadow Broker HQ ready to put him into.
I know, it's crazy. But then, so is everything else in the series.

Yes, it is as bad as people make it out to be and having books in existence that are worse doesn't lesson the horrifically bad writing that makes up the Twilight Series.
