Well, I made an Eldritch Knight PC who is wearing a Mithral Chain Shirt and a Mithral Heavy Shield. While 10% arcane spell failure chance is tolerable, It is better to reduce it to 0% whenever possible. So, when I buff, I usually let him undone the Chain Shirt, let him cast spells, then let him don it again.

Then I found a strange thing is happening. Everytime I let the PC remove the Mithral Chain Shirt, the Armor Check Penalty increases by 3 (-3)!

Say, his starting Armor Check Penalty is -2 in total (+0 from the Mithral Shirt, -2 from the shield). Now he removes the shirt and his total Penalty becomes -5. Let him wear the shirt and remove it again. Now his total Penalty is -8. Do the same and now that is -11...

Is this a known issue?

Or maybe it is something due to the fact that I am using Kaedrin's Prc Pack?

Oh wait! It seems that Mithral Chain Shirt is not the problem. Similar thing is happening with other armors. Sometime check failure increases when wears an armor. Sometimes check failure increases when removes an armor. I have let my PC wear and remove various armors and now his armor check penalty is -57:blink:

Armor check penalty seems to be re-set when I load a saved game. And this phenomenon doesn't happen on companions.

Clean out your override.

Not for me at least, and something like this would likely be common knowledge if it happened often. That, and that it shouldn't happen, are the only things I can tell you about this issue.

Where are you looking at to see your current ASF? Character sheet? Combat log? Have you actually tried to cast spells after the ASF increase (it wouldn't be the first time that something works normally while a text tells you otherwise)?

Even if it was only character sheet, that would be a widely known issue.

Actually, that is not ASF but Armor Check Penalty, which is applied to some skills and ability score checks.

And I can know the current total by the dialog message when an armor is worn or removed. And I can also see the skills such as Hide and Tumble are lowered on the character sheet.

Well, I will try clearing the override.

P.S..
It seems that the problem is indeed related to Kaedrin's. After some more tests, I found that the phenomenon happens only to certain PCs and not the others. Maybe some of Kaedrin's class or feat is causing this problem. Possibly, Dragonslayer prestige class.

Oh, I got confused with all the talk about ASF... Anyway, don't trust the character sheet.

I can confirm this bug, and also that it has nothing to do with Kaedrin's class pack, which I don't use, and that a clean override folder does only partly influence it.

In my game, whenever I unequip or  equip any item (rings included), my armor penalty rises by -3. So just unequipping and equipping gloves for example causes additional -6 to stick to me.

The false penalties can be reseted by loading a savegame, but they of course accumulate again once you make any change to equipment (except weapons). Cleaning the override folder only makes it so that normal items can be switched out without gaining penalty, but changing the armor still gives -3 per "equip-action".

The weirdest thing is that my recently used armor mesh and texture somehow started to stick to me even when I equip no armor at all (with slight color change):

It is always this Adamantium full-plate that is used as "no-equip" set btw., so changing from robes back to "nothing" still leaves me with the armor mesh.

A few gaming hours before it hasn't been that way. I am currently in Mysteries of Westgate, and for example remember the faceless clone of myself having the standard "no-equip" clothing texture; not to mention that I saw that on myself when changing stuff in the same campaign and etc. . So no mods or override changed, and the bug just came into existence out of itself at some point that I missed.

There must be something causing the bug in your installation, because I've never seen it. What's installed outside the game and updates?
