I would very much like to know what gamers think is a good ending, for the last few years I've heard nothing but complaints

Mass Effect 2
Assassins Creed 2
Red Dead Redemption

Didn't the Assassins Creed 2 ending get mauled for skipping four years and introducing aliens? That's at least what I got from the official forum after launch

Out of all the games listed here (including ME3) the only one that I must point out as particularly lacking is darksiders 2.

I preordered that game well in advance, and enjoyed it. The more I played it the more I began to worry about the substance and direction of the story.

My reaction after seeing the "ending" (there's not even enough to call it one) was:

"Wait....what? That's it?"

I was, and still am disappointed by ME3s story consistancy and ending but DS2 REALLY takes the cake for me.

overall I think ME's ending pretty good, in comparison to other 'gamey' endings. They sure weren't predictable and the fan feed back went through the roof. All good, even though combative at times. In my estimation there is a trend for only two finalities in the ME endgame, so far so good, Lolz

Well I have no problem with most game endings personally, it's just that I always here about how this game ending sucks, and this game ending sucks, beginning to wonder what constitutes a good ending for some

I don't know, but I'm thinking that VG's are getting away from just boss fights with little reward other than that. And/or some kind of story message that promotes interest. In ME it was the controversy, but I've not visited other message boards for other games like here on the BSN, so I don't know how much was garnered by those, interest in the story or the battle for the canon canon ending.

in all fairness....it was supposed to tie in with Darksiders 3.....which is not going to happen now

Ahh thankfully i haven't played this series so if it is a trainwreck like ME3's ending then i'll have had a lucky escape.

Those cliffhangers can be a real pain, but I'm fairly sure Darksiders as an IP is going to be picked up by another developer and publisher, unless they do a Crysis 2 and throws out everything from #1

Now bioshock has a story?
Finished Bioshock 2 via my Ps plus and while i really liked the game the story was.... nonexistant.
Why should i care for any of the characters in bioshock?
Sorry but it is not even close to a bioware story.

Well theres no aliens for a start..
From what I remeber of the forums back then it started off what was probably the golden age of AC speculation (in a good way) I'd go into more detail but this is the ME forum :)

should the VG's writers stick to one genre or the other.

shooters be shooters with the best gamer wins

heady mind melting themes be story based without, or minimal shooting/fighting basis?

seems like that's the big grumpy with ME3, or am I imagining it all and am indoctrinated?

some shooters handle certain themes rather well if not allowing the player him/herself to express opinions on the matter be choosing characters' responses

Crysis 3 demands a killer video system, read a review on it..but they didn't say 'that much positive' about the actual play, as it's seemingly (to the reviewer) to be about just like the one before, but very intense and the graphics are killer.. on your machine. just say'n

I know DS2 was supposed to continue into 3, but still. The ending was just...empty. I always assumed death would figure out what really happened by the end of the game but what we get just...basically leaves you with nothing, especially compared to #1.

That's without even getting into the fact that the entire game fails to accomplish it's own premise. That's a discussion for PMs or somewhere else, though. Totally off topic.

Even with a bad ending in a Bioshock game, you feel like "you" had completed the game. And they are great fun.
ME3, well may as well give the controller to the cat.

Xbox player here, they did MIRACLES with it on consoles, just finished a trilogy playthrough with it and I can tell you it takes the best of the previous games and adds more to it, try it, you will like it

The Bioshock writing is and has always been "uncomfortable" in a way. They never aimed to please as far as I'm concerned. If we start bashing on what in my opinion is one of the last daring AAA franchises out there, I can see where this is going.

Secondly, ever tried explaining the plot of any fantasy/sci-fi universe in less than ten paragraphs?

Please, experience the game as it's intended, and then go on judging whether the plot works out or not. I can't even begin to explain what's foundamentally wrong with "criticism" like this.

There is very little below Mass effect 3's ending.
Considering it ruined an entire franchise, it is probably the worst.
